I stayed here as part of a tour arranged by a high-end company (i.e. I paid a lot for it!) and was very disappointed by the standard, as it is a student hostel, not a hotel, and seemed to be run by students. It is not true that there is a microwave in every room - ours did not have one - and the facilities were basic and grubby. We were welcomed by an unemptied waste basket and uncleaned shower. Food is served in a college hall, with inexplicably thumping music at breakfast. The toaster was a domestic one, and was, frankly, dangerous.
If you book this hotel because you want a cheap holiday you may not be disappointed, but if you are expecting a normal hotel, you are in for a shock.
As I understood it this hotel is in fact student accommodation. As such the bedrooms were huge with a kitchenette as well. The bathroom was a large wet room. The brutalistic architecture was not to my taste - it just looked like untreated breeze blocks to me. When you try to combine student lodgings with a hotel there are always going to be compromises, and the biggest compromise seemed to be the checking in procedure (or lack thereof). We arrived in three coaches and after a very long wait the keys were all brought out to us in a basket to be sorted by our reps. Then we made the mistake of getting off the coach and trying to enter at the same time - only to find a long queue rapidly formed outdoors as there was only one lift in the building. This was probably the fault of our reps, or maybe the management should have told them that this approach would not work well. The dining room consisted of long tables and the buffet food was delicious, however none of it was labelled so nobody knew what they were eating until they tasted it. To get to the dining area from the rooms you had to wander around poorly signposted outdoor areas which resembled tradesmen's entrances - what looked like the front entrance to the "hotel" was always locked. Didn't notice any grounds to talk of here and nowhere to sit outside. On the positive side the staff were delightful and as helpful as they could be and as stated before the food was lovely.
Only giving two stars for the great location with lots of hiking. The website photos are deceptive. The grounds are not nice and the hotel is in disarray. Got to the place at 5:30 and the room was not ready. Waited in the bar and had a great beer from a very friendly bartender. Finally went to registration and she was still unsure if our room was ready after 45 minutes. We walked to the suite and she said the TV wasn’t working - normally not a big deal but we wanted to watch the World Cup game. The room was clean but the building was terrible. Trash outside, the exterior of the building was dilapidated, the hot tub was unclean. Stay in the area but someplace else.
We had to wait for the hotel to prepare the apartment before we can checked in. It appears that the apartment was set up only very recently as most things in the big 3 bedrooms apartment are brand new and no pictures are hung on the walls despite hanger holes aleady being prepared. Comfortable beddings and a sizeable bathroom! Apart from it being fully furnished, the apartment also comes with a dedicated wifi module.
This place also runs a big restaurant. We had a good dinner there. Not only are the food good but servings are sizeable.
Overall, service was friendly.
I was with group of people and all I have talked to was happy with the stay.
The room was clean and just as expected.
We did dine there too and the food was excellent and the service fine.
The hotel is a nice country hotel well located.
