Old, less than adequate bathrooms, no services such as ice. Rust in the bathtub. It's affordable and the rest of the room was clean. If you just need a place to crash on a trip this will suffice. It's not too far from the French Quarter but far enough to be less expensive.
It was a cold night and a friend had offered to get me a room by giving out his credit card over the phone. This motel was the first motel that I came to. Overall, the motel looked okay. There was an older guy from India in the office (one of the Patel clan that has basically taken over all of the mom and pop motels in the country). The guy shouldn't have been in the office because he couldn't understand or speak English. Needless to stay, I couldn't get the room because the guy didn't let me give him my phone to take my friend's credit card number. It was money now or leave. It was too dark to try and make an attempt to get closer in to New Orleans, so I had to camp out in my tent in a vacant lot (a business was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina) right next to the motel. Don't make any attempt in giving these people any business. The sign out front is a bait and switch. The motel advertises low rates but they wanted over $50 for a room.
This hotel is average
The staff is nice at the reception
You have a free parking and wifi working pretty well
The room is quiet clean bit a bit dark
The air conditioning works
The price was expensive for what it was tho but hotels are expensive everywhere around here !
We rented a king suite, I decided to take a quick shower (under 5 minutes) before we went out with with the plan to relax in the jacuzzi we paid extra for after we came back to the hotel. The cleanliness was okay... the only complaint was a couple of bugs in the shower. And we could even deal with the shady activities, lack of personal safety and security, except we had no hot water.
A call to the front desk resulted in a rude hotel clerk who could no give an explanation, and so we asked if we could change to a room that would have hot water. He said sure and he would call us back. No call, so we went to front desk to speak in person and he did give us another room... with no hot water. So we asked if we could as least have a 10% discount since we were unable to bath when we got back to our hotel room. And I had only a quick shower about 6 hours before. No discount.
This hotel is a waste of money and there are plenty of other hotels with the same rates (lesson learned never go to this independent motel chain) that can at least offer hot water. There is not even a corporate office to lodge a complaint so I am sure many more people will continue to get ripped off.
So please don't make a mistake like us and waste your money.
We stayed for 2 days/ nights. We had TV issues, but the manager immediately came to the room and fixed the problem. Registration process was simple and basic; (don't speak) just read the forms, sign, pay, take your keys, and find the room.... no issues..... See... I learned!
In all fairness, the room was clean, bed neatly made, smelled nice and everything worked. Water was hot, and I;d stay there again. It is reasonably priced, clean and close to I-10 and about 10-25 minutes from downtown new Orleans. We stayed in rm. 210 and it was nice. Also, Renovations was in progress at that time.
I will definitely have an update to this May, 15, as I planned to be there again.... We'll see
