Check in was smooth and friendly (although we were not offered leis upon our arrival). We were given two free drink tickets for their signature cocktail at the hotel restaurant. The lobby has fruit water available, seating, and a store that sells gifts, sundries, pastries, beverages and sandwiches. There are classes and a schedule of events.
Hotel has a courtesy car to take you to local places, although the Kukuiula Shopping Village is a five minute walk away (all sidewalks) and the Poipu Shopping Village is a seven minute walk away (only some sidewalk, mostly on the road with cars). See my separate review for Kiawe Roots at the KSV for an excellent lunch/dinner recommendation.
See my spa review at The Spa at Koloa Landing.
The gym has many machines with tv's built in, granola bars, water and towels. The main pool has several levels, jacuzzis, a pool slide, an infinity pool, restrooms, towel and activity huts and is located next to the hotel restaurant which also serves as the pool grill (see my review for Holoholo Grill). The Tranquility Pool is for adults only and has a jacuzzi and is located on the other side of Building 7.
A full mini kitchen (sink, coffee maker, two burner stove, microwave, dishes and silverware, mini fridge), a full sized washer and dryer and two packets of detergent for four loads of laundry, table and chairs, couch, plenty of drawer space, iron/ironing board, hairdryer, free WiFi, large shower stall with good water pressure, Wai toiletries (they were okay), vertical digital safe, complimentary box of macadamia nut chocolates, banana bread, a branded tote bag and bottled water.
There were a couple of days where we couldn't find any open lounge chairs, they were all taken. The main pool was always very busy, rain or shine.
The Tranquility Pool is a short walk away from the main pools through the parking lot on the other side of one of the buildings, and though it is blissfully quiet, it has no towels, no drink/meal service or restrooms.
Not a negative per se, but just something to be aware of - the rooms are all located in separate buildings spread across the property, so just know you'll be walking from building to building, across parking lots and paths with some lush landscaping. The lobby, gym, store and spa are all located at the front and the room buildings are spread out over the property intercepted by pool areas and parking lots. In inclement weather, we found ourselves scurrying in near darkness across the lawn one evening to the fire pits to make and grab s'mores in the rain to bring back to our room.
Overall, we would recommend this resort as a laid back hotel that is good for families. More casual, less lux.
