Had 2 stays in 2 weeks, working in the area. I had to change rooms 3 times the first week. First room had no air conditioning and temperatures were in the 90s. When I called to report it I was told they were aware and had written 3 service tickets. (then why rent the room) I was given a second room in which half of the electricity didn't work. Finally the third room was ok. The second week garbage disposal didn't work, room was filthy, shower hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. I took pictures. Hotel had a very bad knat problem. Bugs everywhere. No COVID cleaning taking place in common areas. Elevator had the same hand prints that were there the week before (we had joked about how they got them up so high). The buttons were disgusting. No one was wiping down the luggage carts after use and the general appearance of the hotel was not up to the standards of a Marriott. Management blamed everything on the remodel that had been interrupted due to COVID. This does not affect cleaning and maintaining the rooms if you're going to rent them. My coworkers had similar problems having to change rooms several times.
The rooms are spacious and well equipped with a full kitchen, and a nice desk/work area. Bathroom is nice, too, however my room only had a walk in shower, which I personally like. But if you are traveling with small children that need a bath, be forewarned.
Love that Marriott is environmentally conscious and now supplies shampoo, conditioner and body wash in pump bottles in the shower to eliminate the need for all those travel size plastic bottles. But, they did not provide body lotion. :-(
Realizing this I attempted to use the app to order some (it was listed as a choice of something that you could order). I waited 30 minutes before getting any response to my request, then did not get the lotion, or hear back again, so I canceled the request and went to bed.
Also, digital key was listed as an option, which I selected, but it did not load. Seems they have to work out some glitches in the system.
Breakfast had two types of eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cold cereal, yogurt and make your own waffles. It was fine.
Overall a good hotel that I would visit again.
We have staying at the hotel before and were extremely pleased. Not this time. Our first floor room was a great disappointment-moldy shower, problematic thermostat and badly placed flashing smoke detector (near bed). These were reported to management who were extremely apologetic and even offered extra points. The breakfast was good and staff extremely helpful. Like many of the Towne Place Marriotts we stay at, the hotel needs serious upgrading. Like the others, this has been promised for years. I suggest you stay at the Spring Hill Suites next door (another Marriott property) at comparable rates and more updated rooms.
We decided on this TownePlace since it was pet friendly and close to the VA in Clarksburg. All of the staff were topnotch.We liked that there was a specific area for our dog to walk and do his business. The only drawback was that upon entering our room there was a slight musky odor. We opened the windows and the smell left. We did enjoy being able to get Bar Food from the Bar area. We would stay here again if in the area.
We stayed here for a few nights to visit family in the area.
Stayed in the two bedroom suit. Nice layout. Kitchen. Very very roomy.
The hotel bar is closed for untold reason.
The bad. Some unidentified snot/oil looking stains on the ceiling of suit.
The very very bad. We left our suite from mid morning (with house keeping saying good bye and ogling after our 12 mo old right outside our room in hallway), until later evening two full days in a row and our room wasn’t maid serviced. Towels, trash, etc. the BS excuse from GM on voice mail after first day house keeping miss was our do not disturb sign was up day one. Nope.
Day 2. Triple checked do not disturb sign. Maybe should of left it at the front desk for the day. (If you choose to stay here highly recommend)
Room still not cleaned two days in a row. House keeping said do not disturb sign up again all day! Luckily front desk person brought clean towels, trash bags, tp. Each night for us.
