At First, arriving in Ischia, was a nightmare. Hotel cancelation, rudeness and no hospitality at all.
When walking thru the hills of Panza, with no destination, and dispare thinking that our holiday would be destroyed, we found this small piece of heaven.
We were so well welcome at “Maria’s house” as the perfect place to rest and have your dream time at this amazing Island.
Maria and her family are hard workers, from 7:00 to 22:00 they do THE BEST to make you feel the most comfortable possible as is welcoming you to her family.
The hotel is extremely charming, engraved on the hills of Panza just a few minutes from the Baia di Sorgeto.
The room was just perfect, the bed is so comfortable, clean towels, nicely cleaned and perfumed every morning and with the best view of the Ischia bay while you taking a coffee at your balcony.
Breakfast are for champions, get ready and be hungry, with homemade jelly’s, fresh fruits, Italian bakery just coming out of the oven and the truly Italian cafe!
After a long journey into the Island, get ready to relax on the small spa with thermal pools, nice resting space to finish the day and to get ready for dinner later.
If you are up to having dinner, get ready for “mama’s cuisine” and for three courses dinner as an original Italian all house made by Maria’s mother, the truly Italian mama.
Thank you Maria and your family for everything!!! We can not wait to comeback soon!! You are the best!!!

I stayed here four nights. Wish I had known Italian. The hotel is family run. The mother Bernadina is the cook extraordinare. Breakfast is included (including cappuccinos) fresh figs served along with homemade breads. I asked for eggs because I like protein in the morning. They have lunch, if you like and are around but I never was. Dinner is an Italian several course meal. €25 and amazing. I’m not a huge eater that late but had fish two nights that was perfection. They have a thermal pool steps outside their front gate.
They are near a hotel that caters to families and is loud until midnight. I always have earplugs and with shutters and windows closed, and AC in, was able to get a GREAT nights sleep. Bed was comfortable, bathroom large and whole property very clean.
I just wish I spoke Italian. There was lively discussions during meals with Maria, mama Bernardina, sometimes the dad would pop in and help out too. All the guests got to know each other and it becomes a family.
A good walk down to the Sorgeto beach for thermal waters and mud baths but must also walk back uphill.
If you are looking for a true Italian experience, look no further. My boyfriend and I booked this last minute and had the most wonderful week at Hotel Villa Bernadina. It is a family run hotel in a quiet part of the island, near to Sant'Angelo. The breakfast is outstanding, everything is homemade by the lady of the house, Bernadina. They have their own orchards and we were served fresh figs every morning, along with homemade conserves and bread. We only ate there one evening but wish we had every night because the food was first class. Homegrown tomatoes, homemade wine etc.
Maria runs the front of house and speaks some English. They do speak German as well but definitely take a phrase book if your Italian and German are limited!
We didn't have a car or scooter as we were happy to walk up to the bus stop but be prepared for a steep hill if you choose to do the same. The bus stop is about 5-10 minutes uphill with buses around the island. A week bus pass cost 14.50 EUR. Alternatively there is the thermal pool at the hotel or you can walk down to the bay of Sorgeto which is at the end of the road (google it, it's beautiful).
I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get a little off the beaten track and get some real rest and relaxation.
Just arrived in Ischia we walked in ths small family-run 2 stars hotel restaurant and got much more than expected.
Location is very pleasant, close to Sant'Angelo in the southern side of the island. The property has a few rooms in the main building (ours was basic but wide and clean, with terrasse facing the sea) and some apartments close to the private spa. Spa is composed of a mid-size natural warm pool and a natural hot tub with surrounding solarium.
Private parking is close to the spa, some 50 meters from the main building, just across the small road accessing the nice Sorgeto beach.
Everything is very familiar included the good restaurant run by lady Bernardina, who also serves home made jam at breakfast.
Owners speak German, English (didn't tried it) and of course Italian.
