The only positive about this dump is the woman at the front desk. She is really nice and helpful. However, we are not at the Motel 6 to make friends, we are there to get a night (or more) of sleep. This is supposed to be a non-smoking motel. When we opened the door, the smell of smoke was overwhelming. When we stepped inside the room, our shoes stuck to the vinyl, wood-look, flooring. I ran back to the front desk and the woman behind the counter said all the rooms are the same. She said they cannot enforce the no-smoking policy because they take cash with no deposits for the rooms so they get and "undesirable" clientele that doesn't follow the rules. We were only staying one night, so I walked back to the room to make the best of it. We also had a light over the sink that didn't work, so the sink area was very dark. There was mold all over the shower stall and the ceiling and the cover to the exhaust fan was lying on the floor next to the toilet. I did my best to rig the cover over the fan and realized there was no soap or towels in the room. I had to go to the front desk again to get them. Anyway, the place is just plain disgusting. There is nothing nice about it. I stayed in this exact same Motel 6 just a few years ago and it was fine. It was a no-frill motel, just as we expected. This time around it was vile and I mean vile. I don't know how the Knoxville Health Department hasn't closed this cesspool down. It needs to be torn down and rebuilt with an entirely new building that is how bad it is.

We travel with cats, so I like to stay at Motel 6 where the rooms have a vinyl-type floor. I feel like it's cleaner (no fleas, etc.). This was our first time at this Motel 6. The check-in lady was very nice. We were tired and went right to bed. We were on the side by the expressway, but didn't hear a thing. If we hadn't been so tired, the noise may have bothered us. Our room was clean, but the place is in need of some serious attention. The whole room looked kind of rough, especially the shower. It's just getting old.

The people who are describing the rooms as horrible are being honest. I had no idea that a hotel room / towels / sheets could be so disgusting. All of the bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths had dark stains on them. There was a stain on the bed sheet that looked disgusting. The floors were sticky. The hand towel bar was held up with duct tape which didn't work. The shower was cracked and needed all kinds of maintenance. The baseboard trim was in bad condition. The wifi didn't work. Duct tape is used extensively to "repair" things. The toilet seat was the wrong size. The coat rack was bent and the suitcase rack was dirty.

Security latch broken in half, mirror above bed (shouldn't have veen there) mounted by one nail fell on bed during night. Phone did not work, dirty washcloths, numerous gnats everywhere, drain dirty and broken in tub and filthy parking lot. They offered nothing in response to these issues. Shame on Motel 6 corporate.

When my boyfriend and I checked in, it was pretty late (1am or so). The woman at the desk was not pleasant when we checked in. She asked for both of our IDs, so my bf had to run outside to get his from the car. When he returned, she kept going on about how she has to ask, and she wouldn't bother with it. She then made a snarky remark about how my bf doesn't look like his last name (ethnicity) and how it's too difficult to pronounce (a Spanish last name, a simple one at that). We found that very off-putting, but since she was there alone and it was already almost 2am, we decided not to make a stink about it. Speaking of stink, the room smelled heavily of cigarettes. We slept pretty badly because of the smell and the AC continuously ran and we couldn't figure out how to work it. The next morning, we tried to call the front desk but our phone didn't work. This is a huge hazard! What if something had happened and we needed assistance? We ended up going to the front desk to check out and the desk attendant didn't even stand to greet us when we came in. I'm sorely disappointed in the property and will never return there or any other Motel 6 property.

I reached out to Hotels.com to see about getting any sort of resolution. The Hotels.com rep contacted the hotel with my complaints, who then said they wouldn't do anything. The night front desk rep made a seemingly racist remark about my boyfriend ("you're last name is too difficult") and nothing gets done? Heaven forbid they refund a measly $50. I should have spent the extra money to stay at a clean and hospitable Hampton Inn down the road.

This hotel is a tragedy and you should definitely avoid it.
