MainStay was really clean and surprisingly quiet! My room was on the main floor next to the fitness center so I was expecting to have to use my earplugs but I didn’t hear a thing! I really appreciated how soft the bed was... a nice surprise. The towels were super fluffy too. My room was very clean and the layout was nice not having the bed close to the door! I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Chattanooga.

Staff was great. I got in pretty late from work but they accommodated me with a late check out. Room was large--two beds with great coffee (!)--and walkable to various cafes and restaurants. Had a decent fitness center, a friendly staff and is the perfect oasis for the road weary traveler.

Staff was so friendly and accommodating. My first taste of Southern Hospitality and certainly not the last. I can see why so many people stay here on business.

My fiance was sent to Chattanooga for his job and our newborn daughter and I came along. We were there about 9 days and...for the most part...enjoyed our stay. We got to the hotel fairly late the first night and just ended up sleeping on top of the comforter. The next night we went out for a late dinner after my fiance returned from work. By the time we got back to the hotel, changed and fed the baby and relaxed a bit...it was late and we went to crawl into bed. I noticed stains on both the top sheet and the fitted one. It APPEARED that they had not been changed from the previous guest...as it would be pretty unlikely to match up two clean stained sheets on the same bed! It was late and we just slept on top of the comforter again. Since it's an extended stay hotel...your full housekeeping service is only once a week. You can request 'light touch' service daily by calling the office by 9AM, however. I called the next morning and requested this...along with a fresh pair of sheets that I offered to change myself. When we returned to our room that evening, the housekeeper not only changed our trash and towels...but also the sheets and vacuumed/wiped down the counters. This was a pleasant surprise! The only other concern was the sometimes unavailable internet service. I noticed this happening mid-afternoon for two consecutive days. I did call the front desk to inform them. The man working was a little snide and asked why I hadn't called the previous day. He told me he'd call their service number to troubleshoot. After that, the internet worked just fine. Our room was just a studio [one queen sized bed plus pull-out sofa]. We had planned to put the baby on the pull-out until we actually pulled it out. The mattress was extremely thin and had 2 huge areas where there was once apparently stains. We could tell they'd been cleaned due to the bleach colored circles that remained. Regardless...we weren't comfortable letting our newborn sleep there, so she slept in the bed with us. The room has a 2-burner counter top and they provide a few dishes, silverware, a frying pan, a sauce pan and a toaster. There is a full sized refrigerator with ice maker and a dishwasher...which they provide dishwasher powder packets for. The flat screen TV had full cable-many channels. The decor could use a bit of an upgrade...but for the price...I won't complain too much. The complimentary breakfast was okay...not many options. They offered: make-your-own waffles, cereals, pastries, yogurts, fruit and coffee and juice. There is a laundry room, small work-out room and a computer and printer for guest use. They do not have a pool or hot tub...but you can use a gym [sorry...I forgot which one as I didn't take advantage of it] complimentary for being a guest there. They also approved a little later check out for us as my fiance was still working the day we left. There are several restaurants, grocery stores and also Hamiliton Place mall in the immediate area, as well. Randy [the manager] was fantastic! He was always friendly and helpful...a great addition to the team. Overall...a pretty good stay!

BAthroom was dirty when we got here...shower curtin was black with mildew. Had to ask for curtin to be replaced. tOOK 4 HOURS TO GET NEW ONE.
Very thin walls - could plainly hear next room conversations from bathroom.
Very small room. If sofa is open, no room between sofa and bed.
Bed was awful, mattress saggy, pillows thin and flat. Worst night's sleep for me and spouse in a very long time.
Fitness center is all non-electric and nothing for upper body, just treadmills.
on the plus side - HIgh speed internet was good and the let me borrow a cord when I forgot to bring mine.

We booked directly online through hotel's site, then called the property directly more than once since we were bringing a small pet to ensure "pet friendly" and still had problems. Despite advance requests - via direct phone calls to real people - for upper floor pet-designated room the only room available upon our arrival was a ground-floor room adjacent to the front office and fitness center. Room was decent (though closet door was broken) but we did not feel secure due to ground floor and could not open our curtains the whole time for privacy reasons- windows are about 6 feet from the parking spaces for registration. My check in slip had a note that "we had been moved to accomodate somebody else's extended stay." Glad to know that somebody else's money is greener than mine since the manager did have to acknowledge (upon my grilling him after my conversation with Choice Hotels) that there are pet friendly rooms on the upper levels. Despite expressing displeasure to on-site staff and even calling Choice Hotels national center directly from our room, we got no help.

We would return to Chattanooga - nice town!! - but would probably cough up the (higher) rate for one of the pet-friendly properties downtown. Also, good luck finding anything other than fast food to eat in the neighborhood after 9:00 PM. Numerous places we called in the neighborhood to go eat were already closed for the night despite hours postings in the in-room TravelHost mag, hotel "local directory," phone book, etc. to the contrary.
