Pros:

- Clean restrooms. The showers are great - lots of hooks to hang stuff. I appreciated that.

- Pool and other fun amenities - a surprising variety considering how small the campground is. This is an especially good campground for families with young kids.

- Great to bring dogs that do not have any anxiety issues whatsoever. They have a small fenced-in area where dogs can be off their leash, and have little stations with poop bags and trash cans which is convenient.

- Very nice walking trail around a pond. Peaceful and easy.

- Great bench & picnic table setup at our tent site. Seriously fantastic.

Cons:

- The pool floor looked grimy and there was a lot of debris floating on the top of the water.

- Our site (T1) was terrible, location-wise. Right near the office which meant lights all night. I barely slept. Cabins right next to us, road/golf cart paths all around us. No privacy whatsoever. I felt like we were sleeping in a parking lot.

- Because of the above, our dog (who is a rescue and has a lot of anxiety) barked a lot and other guests complained to the staff about him. We tried to keep him quiet as best as we can, but there's only so much we can do when we're surrounded by constant traffic. A staff member told us as we were packing to go home that we need to keep him quiet, and didn't want to hear any explanations as to our dog's behavior. He was curt and needs some customer service training.

- RV's blocked the road as we were trying to leave. We had to drive on the wrong side of the road to pass them. I think, since T1 is basically a parking lot anyway, why not just turn that space into parking so that folks can have somewhere to park their large vehicles while they check in?

- This campground is too packed for its size. Too many sites for such a small space.

All in all, I think if we had been able to choose our site, we could have picked a site away from the golf carts and road. We would have had a better time and our dog would have been much calmer/less annoying. But it is what it is.

I am sorry we were not a match for you. Open 13 hours a day, 8 am - 9 pm, we would have been happy to move you to a more suitable campsite had we known your needs while you were on premises. Our pet policy, as written, is they must be on a leash and in your control at all times with no incessant barking so that all of the guests are enjoying their time at Point South KOA. Going on our 38th year of ownership we understand we may not hit a homerun every time. We are sorry you felt we you were addressed curtly. We will have a conversation with the staff member to make any needed adjustments as our goal is to create an enjoyable and welcomed experience for all who choose to camp with us. We wish you well on your travels. Jennifer ~

We stayed there for one night on a long road trip. Jennifer and the rest of the staff were courteous, friendly, and helpful from start to finish. We absolutely loved our site. Wooded and private. There are no wine tastings due to COVID, but we got a beer and a glass of wine and enjoyed a break in the wine bar. The Aria's Ale was very good! My daughter got some pizza and said it was delicious. We didn't take advantage of any of the amenities like the pool, but it looked like there was plenty to do, including a giant chess board and a playground. The dog park was kind of muddy and rutted, but we haven't really found the KOA Kamp K-9s to be very good as a rule.

It was just a brief stay, but we will definitely go back for the wonderful site and the great customer service.

It was a pleasure getting to know you during your overnight stay at Point South KOA. We are glad you enjoyed your experience on our deluxe KOA Patio Site. We can certainly look at our Kamp K9 to see what we can do to improve the experience. Happy travels. We look forward to seeing you again once you purchase your new motorhome. Best to you all. Due to Covid 19 and Governors mandate we can only have 10 in the pool fence per hour and have reservations for pool time and wine tasting which we tell you on reservation, on line and calls. The private 12 acre lake is a beautiful vista to view aviary, flora and fauna. We just had a guest tell us they caught a bass so perspective and variance in experience is real. We offer life size chess set and jenga, gem mining, fire rings at every site, wine tasting, full line coffee bar, 62 channels of cable, high speed wifi 200x100 enough to stream, backpack coloring, pizza shop a great gift shop and more. While we can't be everything to everyone we do offer much serenity and a break from the hectic pace of life with many amenities. We wish you well on your travels. Jennifer ~

My family had a wonderful experience and this is one of the best KOA's . Very dog friendly, nice and helpful workers. Debbie, Chris and Sylvia were expecially friendly and nice when I was at the cafe , ordering food or asking for local places to stay. Chris was also very helpful with checking in and any questions we had regarding the pool and location. Would recommend to several fellow campers.

We googled places with wine as we passed through heading back home to NC and saw this cute place online. Decided to find it and totally blown away by a KOA campground with an adorable office, gift shop with wine, local beer and coffee, as well as a pizza operation. The unique and relaxing atmosphere complete with leather couch, tables and bar, local art and fabulous Staff made us wish we could stay! Needless to say, we will make an excuse to come back here. It also offers tiny home accommodations, including a real railroad engine and caboose totally made over into sleeping quarters! Oh!! And it has an original English telephone booth, complete with a book exchange AND the phone, next to an immaculate pool, WORKS for dialing 911!!! This is the most appealing campground I think we have Ever seen!
