My wife and I were doing the Sydney to Brisbane return trip. I had decided that 300Km per day was comfortable for me as I am in my late 60's and I had tried 450Km per day on the downward leg and found that I was nearing my limit on both legs, mine as well as the journey's.
Hamilton is a small coastal town who's main attraction is the Crowdy Head lighthouse and the views from it.
I chose a cabin in the Big 4 Caravan Park. Reception were very nice and we received a key which had an activator to open the boom gate. All that worked well. Our cabin was easy to find and had its own little parking area available which you could access more easily by backing in.
On opening the door we found a clean, but rather dated cabin. There was a table and two chairs, a very small double bed with very little room either side, a double bunk a kitchen and a bathroom.
the bed was comfortable but a little on the short side. I am 165cm tall and my feet were touching the ends, so a six footer would have his feet hanging out all night. The cabin had aircon, but the promised wi-fi was a fleeting dream. the shower cubicle was a little small, but the water temperature and pressure were excellent.
Between the double bunks and the bathroom door was a sink with a mirror.
There was a TV, but it only had free to air stations and the chairs were really too uncomfortable to sit and watch for any length of time.
The kitchen was well equipped with a microwave, cook-top and toaster and lots of kitchen utensils.
There was a nice outdoor seating area and the park had a pool but as it was early spring, we didn't try either.
All up, if you were looking for a nice base to just sleep at and your expectations were not to high, this would do for a small family, especially in summer.
