We rented a one bedroom suite and were up graded to a two bedroom suite at no additional cost.
The suite was very clean, the view outstanding, the staff very friendly and the service was great.
Located downtown there was no on site parking, but it was very easy to get a parking permit in a city lot that was nearby.
My brother and I returned to Troy for the first time in decades and wanted to reconnect with the Troy we remembered as well as enjoy the changes. Cannon Suites was the perfect choice for our hotel. Great location to walk to shops and restaurants. We had booked a 1-bedroom suite, figuring one of us would use the sofa bed. When we arrived, we learned management had graciously upgraded us to a 2-bedroom at the same rate. The suite was clean and comfortable, with wonderful views of the river and the monument. Great kitchen, too. And I'm so glad the building still has an "antique" beautifully elegant elevator. First time in my life I looked forward to using one, LOL. Parking might have been a challenge, but getting a temporary permit from City Hall for a nearby parking deck solved that. My brother and I realized what a special place Troy still has in our hearts. I can't thank Juan and Paul enough for their contributions to that.
This hotel canceled my reservation a week after booking stating that they had "overbooked".
Terrible business practice and terrible customer service as the email I received stated "Megan, We apologize we must cancel your reservation for a studio suite for 3/10-3/11 at the Cannon Suites. We are over booked. Paul, desk manager"
It was in a nice location for what we needed. It was clean and there was lots of room. The staff was helpfull. They even walked us to our room. Said we could check out as late as 2pm. They gave us a bigger room than what I requested, it could have slept almost 8 people.
We had a terrific experience at Cannon Suites, start to finish. First of all, the location couldn't have been more ideal for visiting lovely downtown Troy. Called ahead and they cheerfully accommodated our request for early check-in. Was given an enormous suite with full kitchen (perfect for cooking up the beautiful veggies we scored at the weekly farmer's market that was literally at our doorstep on Saturday morning). I'm frankly surprised by the negative reviews of customer service, we found them to be pleasant and helpful -- when we arrived we chatted with both Paul and Juan George for almost an hour! The room was clean, bed was super comfy, great views all around. Yes, the place is old, but we found it charming. Wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in the Albany area. Tip: bring ear plugs, there are lots of bars nearby and the farmer's market starts set up at the crack of dawn. Second tip: get yourself a Belgian waffle at the market. Delicious.
