We stayed at the Geyser lodge B&B prior to dropping our young adult at college. We chose the B&B because it had affordable rooms and in particular a separate room/bed for our 18-year old without us having to purchase multiple hotel rooms. We had the Columbia Suite which had king in one room and a queen in the other for our teen and we shared a full bath. This arrangement worked perfectly for us since we wanted to spend out last evening together but we all wanted our own space for sleeping. The hosts are very welcoming, the house was clean and the beds very comfortable for sleeping. Tara makes a good breakfast, the omelette had very nice flavors, there was also plenty of coffee. The pool looked very nice but we had forgotten our swimwear so didn't make it in. Updates to things like carpet and fixtures would put this B&B into a much more solid 4 to 5 type rating. But it was generally a quiet and comfortable stay and we would stay there again.
This B&B is a comfortable, convenient, and affordable place for a visit to Saratoga. Highlights are the breakfasts—where the thoughtful innkeepers aren’t fazed by a request for an egg-white omelette, the welcoming cookies and Saratoga water, the comfy front porch, and the small but refreshing pool. We especially appreciated the unpretentious, unstuffy ease of the whole place. It feels like being at a friend’s home. While the rooms were clean when we arrived, one bed was not made up on the second day: a bedspread was pulled up messily over a completely unmade bed! This was a surprising lapse. But I’d certainly give them a second chance and stay again because it’s refreshing to find a place this comfortable.
The Geyser Lodge is as wonderful as all the reviews indicate, but I was surprised to see, upon arrival, its location on a major highway (Rt. 50) opposite a strip mall. As the porch sits on the highway side of the house, it is impossible not to notice the traffic or the neon lights at night from the stores in the mall.
I must stress that this location did not interview with sleeping, nor with enjoying the pool area, which is lovely, quiet and secluded at the back of the property. The breakfasts were wonderful and the hosts gracious and accommodating. I'm sharing this review so that people know this one limitation of an otherwise, exceptional B&B.
I loved this old-fashioned B&B -- the rambling house, the extra-large suite with huge bathroom, comfortable bed, wonderful little pool in the grassy backyard, and the delicious breakfast (esp. the homemade goodies). The hosts answered any questions we had. Also, I'm a sucker for an old-fashioned porch, and there are two -- one screened, one not. The grounds are nice, too, and the neighborhood is quiet. I appreciated the computer in the living room area and made use of it to check the weather, etc. All in all, I'd be happy to come back here.
We stayed at the Geyser Lodge for 2 nights last week.
We enjoyed everything about this place. The house itself and our room were so comfortable and spotless. The pool was more than appreciated after a long walk on a very hot day.
The food....OMG, the food! Breakfasts were to die for. Baked goods and fresh fruit to start and then a choice of items for the main course. (Can’t wait to try to make Tara’s Coffee Cake.)
Location is excellent. A quick walk to town and to SPAC was exactly what we were looking for.
Thank you for your hospitality Jason & Tara.
We will return for sure!!
