This place is a dump. I couldn’t sleep well because the bed covers smelt like an oil field worker. The room stinks, the shower trickles. The service is lousy. I booked this room through Expedia. My itinerary stated my check out time was noon. The cleaning lady stated knocking on my door at 10:00am to see if we were about ready to leave. She came back again at 11:00am and informed me that check our time was at 11:00am. I explained that the itinerary stated that check out time was at noon. She then spoke with Johanna, the front desk clerk and Johanna called to the room and stated that she would give us 30 minutes to get out. You have been warned!!!! You would be better off sleeping in your car at a rest stop then to waste your money staying at this dump.
The room smelled so bad immediately upon opening the door. There was overwhelming odor of some disinfectant covering up other odors. The rug was filthy, NO hot water at all and the beds sagged. Truly, we had a dog with us but no place we have ever stayed had been this awful.
Run, don’t gallup away from this place. Their motel sign was hidden by tree limbs, the ice machine did not work, there was no one at the front desk, the parking was bad, the tv was an old tube type, the room smelled of bleach, the bed looked like it had not been made, someone was puking not far from our room. We left.
This location has new management/ownership and wi-fi is now free in all rooms. It is a typical Motel 6, nothing fancy but serviceable at a low price point. Clean but worn carpet, excellent heating and very accessible from I40 on the west end of Gallup. I did have problems with magnetic room card keys losing access to the room.
Motel was busy and noisy during my one-night stay. I was awakened early by other guests making loud noises. Room could have been cleaner. Glad to have a good heater and plenty of hot water on a very cold night. Bad tv reception, strong wifi. Good location, easy to find, close to interstate.
