On the surface Prime Asia looked like it was going to be a great hotel, but there were so many small disappointments with this hotel that really ruined it for me.
The Hotel:
Nicely presented hotel set a fair way back from the main road so traffic noise is minimal. About a 10min walk to walking street and the shopping centre. There is a trike station located right next to the hotel, so if you are lazy like me, you can catch a trike to the shops etc (I usually pay 100 pesos per ride locally. 200 pesos to go to further, etc Marquee mall).
The Room:
Nice size room for this price range. Well presented, with comfy bed. Bar fridge was small and useless. Power in room only works with card, so fridge turns off as soon as you leave anyway. Most power points are multi regional, so you don't need an adapter.
Bathroom:
Good size. Shower gave good pressure but getting hot water was hit and miss. Some days it was scolding hot and others couldn't even get lukewarm. The toilet was also a problem as it would quite often regurgitate the previously flushed waste back in to the bowl, so need to flush multiple times.
TV and WiFi:
32" flat screen TV. Limited TV channels, but not too bad. Easily accessible USB port which plays most video/audio formats including MKV (not x265). Wi-Fi speed varied depending what floor you were on. 4th floor wi-fi sucks. 3rd floor not too bad. Roof good.
Restaurant and Pool:
Nice pool area on top of the hotel with good view of Angeles. Staff were inattentive, sometimes taking 10 mins to bring you a menu after you sat down, even though there is no one else up there. Food is relatively cheap, but of average quality compared to elsewhere in Angeles. No one there knows how to make cocktails (bound to be missing several key ingredients like coke from a Long Island, or Rum from a Pina Colada etc). Basic spirits are almost twice as expensive as everywhere else in Angeles e.g. 300 pesos for a Johnny Walker Red (you can go to the 7/11 and get a 700ml bottle for 550 pesos).
Staff and Amenities:
Compared to everywhere else I have stayed in Angeles, most of the staff (there were a couple of good ones) were inattentive and unhelpful. They try and charge you ridiculous amounts for any amenities you use here such as the Hotel transport and laundry services. To get laundry done in Angeles, the price is approx 50 pesos per kilo. The hotel charged us 2000 pesos for a 5kg load, which is almost 10 times more!!! (So just walk 2min down the street and drop the laundry off yourself).
Overall Impression:
Stay at a different hotel as this place isn't worth the price. I've stayed in cheaper hotels (Dervera, La Terrasita, Appolonia) which were all better than this place for service and friendliness. The only advantage Prime Asia has is that its nicer looking than these other hotels. If you want something on par with Prime Asia, have a look at Queens Hotel or Central Park. Haven't stayed in these rooms, but the restaurant RBI at Queens was tops and it too had a really nice pool area and the views and pool area at Central Park Tower are awesome.
