2nd time in bali after a long hiatus and villa nest was picked rather randomly after being overwhelmed with thousands of other options.

Location was great, in seminyak and near lotsa shops n restaurants.

We stayed in villa dua. Superbly gorgeous architecture with a deep pool, high ceiling and chic contemporary design.

Downside were the owner seems to overlook some details. Villa was extremely beautiful but not too practical in actual. The open concept living room area was too hot and humid to lounge in. A ceiling fan would be ideal. There are mosquitoes, frogs, slugs, bugs, lizards everywhere which we understand the villa concept is very "nature outdoor" vibe but finding alot of them as well in the bedroom was quite a downer.

Another dwnside was the AC in the bedroom was insanely warm and we woke up in sweat a few times in the night and u cant get wifi when ur in the bedroom.

Bfast was disappointing but apparently you can request what you want to have but we didnt so that was ok.

Good things to note were guests can access to canggu club. Its a big club house hangout with gym, pools and other recreation activities.

Above all, the very lovely nest team made up for the shortcomings esp awen and siti whom we have most contact with. Thk u awen for the flawless coordination, hospitality and professionalism and the ever smiling siti. Id be back to try more of ur cooking.

4 mates and myself stayed here for 5 days recently. Overall we found the villa to be pretty good and they met our needs. It is situated a bit out of town in an area that is filled with new, modern villas but yet the street setting is dirty and run down. The villa backs on to Astana Kunti. As others have mentioned, 3 men/boys undertake the cooking and cleaning duties for the villas and they do a pretty good job overall, but is only to an average standard. They are friendly and assist when they can. Breakfast was provided for us daily but it was repetitive and basic with bacon and eggs, toast and fruit offered each day. The villas themselves open up onto the pool area through consatina doors which do allow insects and the heat in. There is no A/C in the downstairs area, but is provided in the bedrooms. The kitchen area is basic so if you plan on cooking for yourself, this may be a problem. We ate out all of the time so wasn't an issue for us. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here but don't expect a brilliantly appointed, luxury villa in an exclusive area. Look elsewhere if this is wha you want.

We have just arrived home from Bali after staying at this Villa for 9 nights August 2013. We specifically picked this Villa as you could close the Villa off to the yard - we were in Bali the year before and came home with Dengue fever so thought if we could close the Villa, would make it easier with the battle of mosquitos. I did not consider the fact that it would NOT be air conditioned - I assumed and it is not! I immediately asked them to provide a pedestal fan which they agreed to do. We ended up leaving the doors open most of the time anyway. The pool is a good size and I don't agree with previous reviews that it is small. It does not get a lot of sun so was a bit cold.

Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that cleaning standards were very poor. The Villa is run by 2 to 3 young boys who are fumbling around trying to do the best job they can do. I specifically asked them to make sure their 'boss' reads my review. The boys cannot clean and we did out best to teach and show them how to clean. They seemed quite appreciative of this and interested in our feedback. The kitchen is poorly appointed and only has a fridge (good size) and a gas cooktop - no microwave, no tea towels, only 2 glasses and a few wine glasses, plenty of small coffee cups (which were stained but we showed them how to clean them). Message to owner: Please get a microwave - it is a must have! We could use the washing machine whenever we wanted but it was in the service area of the adjoining identical Villa. The Villa was a little difficult to locate but really is just a few left and right turns off Kunti 2. It is only a 10 minute walk to Kunti 2 and the staff happily arranged taxis each time we went out. Taxis are cheap so after a day or two, we had no problem with the location.

Breakfast was good and they happily prepared us banana pancakes instead of eggs, bacon and toast. Fruit was served each day and coffee was not great. One morning they had no coffee and told us that the boss only allows them a certain allowance to spend on food and they had no money to buy coffee. One of our first stops out each day was at a great coffee shop called Anomali Coffee which was a 5 minute taxi ride. Breakfast times did vary and we understood it was 8am but one morning it was close to 9am before we saw anybody.

Bedrooms are a great size and well air conditioned. Second bathroom hot water did not work so could only use the main bathroom which was not a problem for us. Towels need to be replaced as they are worn and stained and first night, sheets had a blood stain.

One of the low voltage down lights in the garden (at one of the pillars) was on the blink and we asked then to fix it one day and the next day (not fixed) our little 2 y/o girl came screaming away from that area clutching her hand. I actually went up to the light and touched it and yes, I got a good ZAP and we demanded that they fix it - they reckon they did but it did not work for the rest of out stay. Also a light in the smaller bathroom would flicker and just go out - this was rectified but then stayed on 24/7 - we could not turn it off.

As you can see I have tried to spin a bit of a positive light on this feedback. Overall, our stay was ok but we would not stay here again. We do believe the young boys are doing their best but they have a long way to go. Perhaps a more senior skilled staff member possibly a female as we have had in the past would be an asset in order to mentor the boys.

Their wages are very low 1,000,000 INR a month a little over 40000 INR a day is not much of an incentive to provide the excellent standards that westerners paying over 3,000,000 INR a night may expect.

Not one to normally write a bad review I always prefer to look for the good
but this villa is advertised close to Seminyak... yep it is if you dont mind a 30 minute walk up a dark street
Though here is an excellent restaurant on the corner near by...
The rooms were dirty .. they employed a 16 year old boy as a cleaner and I dont think he knew how to clean, he just wiped down, the items under the hose or sink had never been lifted to clean and if you shut any doors the dust and muck behind the doors was never touched.
The towels had old dried poos stains on them and I am not joking
The mold in the shower was intense and I did not get hot water.
For the price we paid I would have thought a clean room would be something to expect
the pool was always really cold as it simply is that small and in a corner it does not get the sun

the three boys were helpful and nice and they made a very basic good breakfast each day and were trying to do what they can, but if you pay for 16 year old boys then that is what you get, imagine asking your son to clean his room... we paid for a villa and service that should have been at least 4 star...

This was our 20th visit to bali and the only time I felt like I was somewhere dirty...
I should not have to give the villa a really good clean ...

Firstly we arrive to find the sheets on the beds are still from the last occupants dirty, it was midnight and no one was around so we had to sleep on top of the quilt, as we did not want to make contact with the sheets. The place is looked after by 2 young boys about 17 very nice but very inexperienced. The entire place was dirty, the road to the villa was very bad and its quite a long way out from anywhere. The second room had no hot water for 3 days until they fixed it so not the ideal holiday when you have 4 adults all wanting to share one bathroom. No I would not recommend this place nor would I stay here again, this is the first time I have ever been to Bali and never tipped the staff at the villa we stay in but these guys did not deserve it at all. I think the owner is getting very cheep labour by putting young men in charge of this villa that has no idea how to run one. This is definitely buyer beware.
