I was very much looking forward to a two-night stay at this establishment on Labor Day weekend. I contacted the owner, Todd, weeks in advance via the mail address on the website. We exchanged a few emails, he offered me a price and I accepted. Come the Friday before Labor Day weekend, I realized that he did not tell me what time check-in was so I sent him another email. To my amazement, he responded that he had given our room to someone else!!!! He claimed one email ended up in spam, acted like this was no big deal, offered a free night for another date and gave me the name of a few other hotel owners. Hoping to salvage the holiday weekend, I contacted a couple of them. One had to be drunk when he answered the phone. Another wanted a 3-night minimum. I quickly realized that my plans were ruined. Todd said something about "options". I asked him to do the right thing and let me have the room since it was originally promised to me. God forbid he do that .. that was the last I heard from him.
Todd, I don't want a free night or two free nights at your place. That is just insulting! And, what if I hadn't emailed about the check-in time and driven all the way to Cape May ... If this was just a screw-up, that is sad because you only have three rooms in this place. How can you mismanage booking for three rooms? I hope that you are taking pleasure in your other booking and in the fact that you ruined someone else's holiday weekend.
Travelers, save yourself some headaches and avoid this fiasco of a "business" at all costs.
This was our first stay in the Eldridge House B & B in Cape May in November 2017. We spoke with Todd, who runs this wonderful little guest home and he was very friendly and accommodating for our tight schedule. He upgraded us to one of the upstairs rooms which was beautifully furnished and so cozy with a little electric fireplace and TV and bath. The bed was very comfortable and the sitting room downstairs was wonderfully decorated with Christmas decorations, a little tree and warm and cold beverages. It's tucked away, but right where we needed to be to enjoy our anniversary. The restaurant across the street was excellent, and the Eldridge house provides a gift certificate with your stay to eat your breakfast at the restaurant across the street or a few other neat places. We try to visit Cape May about every year at different B & B's, for an over night stay, and we will revisit the Eldridge House again!
Charming guest house in enchanting West Cape May. Room was spacious, super clean and every detail taken into account in the handsomely appointed quarters. The gardens provide a wonderful environment to relax and get back in touch with nature. Looking forward to my next trip in the Fall.
My husband and I were in definite need of a relaxing getaway and got more than we expected staying at the Eldredge House. Todd, the owner, was flexible to our needs and had such a great knowledge of the local area giving us great advice to make the most of our few days. He went above and beyond so we could make the most of our stay. The room was beautiful, comfortable, clean and had all that we needed. The location of the Eldredge house is perfect allowing easy access to all areas of Cape May from the beach to downtown. The idea of breakfast vouchers is so great allowing us great variety and choice of where and when to use our breakfast vouchers.
The friendliness and welcome that we received had us planning our next trip back to the Eldredge House on our second day. Todd was also extremely helpful even when we were booking the trip always returning calls and emails in a timely manner. He continued this throughout our stay always available to answer questions.
My husband and I love Cape May but this was an amazing experience because of our stay at Eldredge House. I cannot recommend Todd and the Eldredge House enough. We cannot wait for our next stay - you will love it!
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Mary room at the Eldredge house for our anniversary, and we could not have been happier! The place is breath-taking both inside and out. The owner Todd, does an excellent job of maintaining the elegant Victorian look, decorating for the holidays, and providing amenities to give the house a cozy feel.
As a surprise for our anniversary, my boyfriend wanted to have flowers and wine delivered to the house. Todd was very accommodating, and went out of his way to pick up and arrange flowers, wine, and wine glasses in the room to create a romantic feel upon our arrival.
Throughout our stay, Todd was very welcoming and gave us a history of the town/house, suggested places to visit, and provided breakfast vouchers to local restaurants (we went to George’s featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives).
Todd is devoted to maintaining the elegance of the Eldredge house and definitely made our stay and experience in Cape May memorable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend staying here!
