I road trip a lot with my dog so have stayed at many Motel 6s around the country. Some are quite nice, some are not so great. This one is in the not so great category. The outside of the motel is rundown and looks seedy...looks like the type of place crimes are committed. It was only missing police tape across a hotel door to complete the look. The inside of my room stunk of overly perfumey air freshener, it seemed dirty even if it was just cleaned. The shower looked filthy (I didnt even end up taking one because of it) and the walls in the room had dirt on them. I checked the sheets, seemed clean, I went to bed and was up at 4am to leave again. The guest wifi did not work either. I could not wait to leave this place. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because the guy at the front desk was so nice. This Motel 6 is off of Interstate 80 which I travel on a lot across country. Surprisingly I had never stayed at this Motel 6 before and never will again. Like I said, I could not wait to leave.
Helpful young man at the desk. I was rudely awakened by someone attempting to kick my room door in. The dead bolt didn’t seat properly and the only thing that kept the door from being breached was the security lock on the top. Police were called and the offender removed along with her wheel chair from the property. I have never been so frightened in my life. Police never contacted me. A very very unpleasant experience. Don’t go there.
I had a sinking feeling in my stomach as I drove into the parking lot. This hotel is old and tired. But I was delighted when I opened the door to my room. It was spotless and the beds were comfortable. Perhaps there's been a recent renovation of the rooms? The bathroom was nothing to rave about, but it was clean. I paid $50 for the room, so my expectations weren't high. Overall, I was happy and I slept well.
Ok, so we stay at Motel 6 when we travel because they allow pets. Other nicer hotels in Elko are cheaper but then we have a pet.
Twice we have stayed here and the Wi-Fi doesn't work. Wife heard the new owner (it is now a franchise) tell a lady that they have recently had trouble with their provider. That is not true - it hasn't worked in the last year - so if you advertise Wi-Fi then get Wi-Fi. Pay for something reliable. Quit lying.
So there aren't that many people staying at the hotel but they pack everybody into one area instead of spreading paople out. We were given a downstairs room and they gave the room above us to a 400 pound gorilla in army boots. Ok, I am exaggerating - he was probably closer to 500 pounds actually. He paced from one side of his room to the other all night long in his boots. Office says "He will probably go to bed soon". Thanks a bunch. No internet and no sleep.
So in the room the beds were made and the bathroom was clean. We found the previous people's stuff in the fridge so we took it out and put our stuff in (yes we put it back in before we left).
So in case it isn't perfectly clear yet, I do not recommend this Motel 6. We just want a clean room to sleep comfortably like other Motel 6 hotels AND WANT THE WI-FI TO WORK! It happens in Grand Junction, it happens in Wendover, but it does not happen in Elko. Next time the dog sleeps in the car and we sleep in comfort anywhere but Motel 6. Sorry Fido...
We stayed here on our drive towards San Francisco and were totally appalled by what we found. I will start by saying I have complained by email and have so far received a response to tell me that customer service would be in touch within 2 days, this was 6 weeks ago and I have since sent 2 more emails with no response. We arrived after a long drive and checked-in, we mentioned how we were looking forward to the pool, the receptionist said nothing. We were directed to drive around the back and that's where the trouble began. The motel looked like it had been vandalised. There was spray paint all around our door and windows. The pool was completely empty and had rubbish in it. The balconies had old bathroom toilets sitting on them. The room itself was very dated with mould in the fridge. The lack of facilities was never explained on check-in or an apology for the state of the motel as a whole. I have given motel 6 three chances to respond to my complaint and unfortunately now I am posting a very dissatisfied review
