We stayed here because of the price, and glad we did. The hotel was clean, rooms were clean and spacious, most staff was friendly. Warning to shorter people ... you may need help getting the towels down off the shelf, and toilet paper is across the room from the toilet, so you may need to get it off the roll and set it on the sink. Breakfast was mediocre, with very watery eggs, but cereal, toast, yogurt and fruit were plentiful. Great location - just minutes from capitol, zoo, museums, and everything we wanted to visit. The fitness room was adequate, with treadmill and eliptical. Taco Bell, Arby's, Wendy's and Circle K all in walking distance.
This is a mediocre property It is in an older part of Jackson by the Fairgrounds. The room was missing an alarm clock. and the do not disturb insert for the door. The room was fairly clean and quiet. We were able to sleep all night. The breakfast was pekid
This is a completely unacceptable property. There was dried urine on the back of the commode, laminate/finish had been removed from the furniture and "bare wood" was showing, the telephone in the room did not work. Carpets both in all the hallways and our room were soiled, stained, and dirty. There was "Sand" covering a third of the pool bottom and trash/debris floating on the water surface.
Our stay was a couple of days and fairly pleasant. We had multiple issues with our key card, making several trips to the front desk to get it redone. The laundry facilities are minimal but adequate, although the dryer consistently ate about 50 cents each load. The TV was a huge frustration—about 200 channels listed and most don’t work. Breakfast was better than average. Nice size room, comfy bed, friendly staff.
I stay in Choice Hotels on a regular basis. When writing reviews I try to be conscious of reviewing the individual property on its own merits and not by comparing to other properties under the same name that I've stayed in before. That being said, I almost didn't book here because of some of the review, but after staying there for the last 3.5 days I have to say I'm glad I stayed. Here's my concise and honest review:
Pros: The rooms are nice, the beds are queen-sized and comfortable, the hotel and the room is clean and in an area that is convenient to downtown Jackson. Also, there are quite a few FF restaurants and a Waffle House nearby. My children walked there from the hotel. Breakfast was typical: waffles, eggs, sausage, biscuits w/gravy, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal. and coffee.
Cons: The rooms are small with very limited counter space/storage. There's a standard closet, a table/desk w/chair, and a night stand between the beds. Not the usual counter space in the bathroom either, so it got a little stuffy for the 4 of us, which isn't usually the case in comparable hotels. Finally, there is a weight room (very basic and one weight machine was broken) and a pool, which sucks! Don't plan to sit pool-side. There is limited seating, NO umbrellas, NO tables, and the whole pool area is unkept.
