I've been wanting to stay here ever since I moved to Minneapolis 25 years ago, it just never panned out. Finally convinced my husband to let me take him away for a romantic night away from work, kids, dogs etc.
Although this is a very beautiful hotel, it is way overpriced during COVID-19 for all of the ambience and services that are curtailed. The room service menu was a fraction of menu that's posted online. None of the other restaurants were open. Their was 1 valet for the line of cars waiting for check in.
We ordered room service and it took 2 hours to get our food and when it did arrive it was so cold that the sauces has congealed and my roasted chicken was raw.
Also, the spring in the mattress was broken and kept "boinging" all night. Every time I moved it would crack and snap. Not cool when you're spending over $500 bucks for a room.
My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary during the pandemic. We felt very safe and had a very relaxing, quiet getaway. The room was comfortable, the staff was friendly and professional, the room service was delicious, and the surrounding gardens were gorgeous! We plan to stay here again for future anniversaries!
This is a beautiful hotel. It is stuffy, though. Nice architecture, fantastic location. Guests are mostly older, and environment old fashioned. There's a tea time... so. But, friendly staff, Aveda products, comfortable furniture, large rooms. The mattress felt a little older, but room extremely clean. Quiet rooms because older construction. I asked for the food -to-purchase to be removed from the room since I just lost 32 pounds and didn't want to stare at candy, and they came within probably 15 minutes to remove it. They made a billing mistake but seemed to have corrected quickly. Bar is absolutely beautiful. Worthwhile for the location.
We traveled for a holiday party and this hotel was absolutely perfect. The location was great in downtown St. Paul with so many destinations close by. I personally loved visiting Landmark Park and seeing the statues for the Peanuts characters. We had a room where the two wings met, it was a strange shape but they made the most of the small space. Unbelievably comfortable bed for a great nights sleep. We also enjoyed breakfast at the M St. Cafe which was pricey compared to what we would normally pay for breakfast, but the food quality was fantastic. Definitely a hotel to stay at with adults, children would be out of place.
My wife and I spent an evening at the St Paul, in St Paul MN. It’s in a nice area. We didn’t walk anywhere as it was ~15* outside. The room was very good, staff friendly. The day of our departure we had a nice breakfast, reasonably priced.
Rather than drive to a church service in a congested area and find parking, we went with a free shuttle The St Paul provided. The driver picked us afterwards. We lucked out, it’s on an available basis.
We were delighted with our stay.
