Nice very clean hotel. Valet parking. Room was big, clean and great view of city. Very close to UMinn Hospital. Staff friendly, helpful. Indoor pool is small but no one was using it, also has indoor hot tub. Breakfast and dinner food is good, as is service at the bar. Great place to stay, I will return.

WE went to Minneapolis to share Christmas with 14 family members. The house was full, so my wife and I stayed here. This hotel decided to close all Room Service and the Bar for all 4 days we stayed. The Whirlpool broke, the pool got closed. The Continental breakfast had stale bread products and frozen cut fruit. The same food was recycled 3 days in a row. Not even re-arranged the trays, just shuttled from freezer to buffet. Zero hot food options. I felt for the staff, they were nice, and obviously felt guilty that they could do nothing. This was anti- hospitality.

We certainly thank you for choosing the DoubleTree University Area for your four-night stay over the Christmas Holiday. Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences you may have suffered. Our intent is to always act in a responsible, guest service oriented manner that reflects our hospitality and responsibility to our guests, business, and team members. A decision was made to offer free continental breakfast in lieu of our expanded, full breakfast buffet and breakfast ala carte menu. The full breakfast buffet and ala carte items are not available on a complimentary basis except to our Hilton Honors Diamond Members. We decided to do this because the last two years we had staff in place and food prepared for hotel guests who departed early in the mornings without having breakfast and returned late in the evenings after dinner time to spend as much time with their families as possible on these very special days. Our thought was to offer something complimentary for those few guests who might be staying here for breakfast and to allow those employees who would normally be here to serve over the Holiday to be at home with their families. With the exception of your experience this seemed to have worked out very well for our guests, our team members, and their families. We closed for dinner for three nights as well, and for the same reasons. In lieu of being open in the restaurant, we offered complimentary to our hotel guest, The Turkey Dinner, a Chicken BLT, a Green Salad(dinner sized) and a Cobb Salad; all of which delighted the guests who had them – not only were they complimentary, but they were made fresh that day, and delicious. We are very proud of the food we create and serve here at the DoubleTree University Area. We would never use frozen fruit and we would never re-serve anything that is returned to the kitchen after service. We do arrange our breakfast foods in a systematic order and many of the items are daily use – the everyday offerings on our expanded buffet. So, it may seem as though they are re-served, but they are not. We utilize a local bakery for our breads and pastries and bake our own muffins daily, along with our signature Chocolate Chip Cookies. We hope your future travels take you to special places and that you may enjoy them all.

$27 for parking will be your first impression. Your 2nd will be what could hardly be classified as a pool. I think it could fit about 4 people and don't plan on being able to swim. More of the size of a hot tub than a pool and it is right in front of the main elevators so every time you look up someone new is looking at you. My last impression was the the cleaners coming in unannounced at 10:30am how in this day of technology does that happen? Didn't even knock. Made me feel rushed and invaded to an extent.

Thank you for sharing your impressions of our property. It is definitely good to be aware of the valet charges for on-site parking and some may miss that info during the booking process. We're sorry if you were looking for a challenging swim, though I hope one of our helpful staff directed you to a nearby facility where you could stretch your water legs. Thank you for bringing the maid service unannounced entry to our attention. We will certainly address that with our housekeeping staff.

My family and I enjoyed our stay here for one weekend night in mid-July, as part of a wedding block. Our room was a double queen room and was located on the top floor of the hotel.
Pros:
-Check-in and required valet parking was quick and effortless. Every member of my family received a warm cookie upon arrival, and our room was ready right away.
-Our room was clean, spacious and had a mini fridge, wet bar, and coffee maker. The bathroom was very large and the shower was a very large size as well-having small children, it would have been nice to have a tub, but they managed fine in the shower.
-While we were only here for a short time, we noticed there was an indoor pool and hot tub, but we did not get a chance to partake.
-A little grab and go store in the hotel sold coffee and food items, and there was also a sit-down buffet one could utilize. We only bought a couple items at the grab and go to save some $$.

The only real downside to this hotel was that there was not some sort of continental breakfast offered for the higher price point you pay. It would also be nice if self-park was an option, so as to save some money here as well. Overall though, these were very minor inconveniences, and we would stay again if in the area.

Hotel was very nice. Valet parking was expensive and sort of a pain, even though the valet does a good job. Pool and exercise room look nice. Breakfast was pretty average and overpriced. Location was biggest downside. Would choose another location in MSP next time. The hotel wasn't near much of anything.

Hello. I really appreciate the feedback. It is unfortunate our team did not share with you the ease of getting downtown via the green line train just two blocks away or that we are less than five minutes from Surly Brewing! I hope you reconsider giving us a try again to explore our neighborhood!
