This place is the worst place I have been to!! The rooms were disgusting. The wallpaper is peeling off the walls revealing TONS of mold underneath. The ceiling is drooping. There is a hole in the wall exposing rot and more mold. We payed for an “upgraded” room with a balcony, however, we could not enjoy it because it was covered in spiders and their webs. There were bugs constantly in our room. Bathroom had no ventilation (just a hole in the ceiling exposing the lights and wires where the vent should be) causing the bathroom to still be wet the next morning after showering the night before. Also making extremely uncomfortable to shower longer than 5 minutes. The front desk women during the night was very nice and helpful, but the one during the day was rude and ignored our concerns about the condition of the room. The wifi is not in range of hardly any of the rooms and the wifi password that is provided does not work for any of the networks that are available. DO NOT STAY HERE!
wyndham usually has nice rooms but for 160.00 a night i would expect a very nice room. to my surprise the floor, sink was dirty .there was no bar on the towel rack, . would love to share pics. staff was friendly
I really enjoyed staying here. The view was nice and the room was very clean. The staff was super friendly and reminded us to check the updated ferry schedule for the day we went to the island. I would totally book here again. I’m going to miss that hot tub.
So disappointed in this hotel. The only redeeming factor, assuming you don’t want any amenities, is the location on the beach about a 5 minute walk from the ferry docks. However, there are many cleaner, more modern and affordable places to stay in Mackinaw City or St. Ignace. The room was terribly out of date, dark, and smelled like an odd mix between mildew and bleach. The bathtub looked so unclean I would have never showered in it, with caulk broken and peeled up. Paid for an upgrade to a room with a hot tub and beach front access, the hot tub did not look clean enough to use and the beach front access has a dirty glass door and cheap looking screen. The WiFi didn’t work in our room at all, and the manager’s solution was to “use the hotel’s next door” (that didn’t work, either). The lighting in the room is super dim, and it just looks like the hotel needs a head to toe renovation to be worth more than $75 a night (we paid $200).
Upon our arrival Super 8 gave us MANY opportunities to fix things. First we wiped everything down with Clorox wipes as we felt we had to. Second, and most exciting, we moved from non working light fixture to non working light fixture on the somehow moist carpet removing the layers of spider webs and battling the spiders. Then we had to face the boss spider that hung from the ceiling by the front door. We won.... but we are forever changed.
Next we made our way to the balcony. As we slid the glass door to the side we quickly reached out and grabbed the falling screen door before it could fall over the railing. Then we genuinely took in the amazing view of the water and small clean beach. Back inside we discovered we would need to devise a guard roster as the sliding door did not lock. We risked our Room security and visited the nearby Dark Park which was amazing. Returning to the motel we discovered we had lost the parking rodeo and had to park on the backside of the motel.
Back in the room our oldest daughter bed down on the motel provided roll away bed, which turned out to be a foldable box of back and hip assaulting springs. Lots of extra padding by us saved the day. The linen was clean and fresh and if pulled over your head partially blocked the musty bologna smell From the in room air conditioner. BONUS!!! Children’s toys can be found in the room when checking if it has been recently vacuumed.
If you have ANY OTHER OPTION I strongly advise you to take it.
