I am not a "loyal customer" of Marriot Hotels, but I stayed at Marriot Properties before and always had good experiences, until now. To be fair, let me start by clarifying the staff was friendly and helpful, but they just do not have the resources to serve their guests. Let me try to summarize all y issues... my tub drain was clogged, never fixed. I found an open (half) bottle of water and a blue acrylic nail from the previous guest. (My friend found a sock and a used disposable face mask in her room.) The swimming pool was filthy. Breakfast Included? hmm... more like snacks included if they have some, because the last day the did not have any, period, not even cereal for the kids. The coffee was weak...... just a disaster!!!
I was not expecting a five stars treatment because I know I paid for three stars, but the service received was way below expectations.
I have stayed here at this hotel before. Noting that it is well located close to most amenities including the Maine Mall but you would have to drive.
Check in didn't start great, the woman on the front desk appeared to be new , when I asked about military discount she immediately seemed irritated. Noting that there was a gentleman there and he quickly took over and did provide me with a lower rate without any further questions, which was appreciated (he seemed like a manager).
The rooms are okay here, clean and adequate. The facilities are also okay, not much of a lobby. They have an outside pool which we did not use on this visit but have in the past, it is nice but it is located in the parking lot which to me makes it a negative.
I do feel that the hotels in South Portland are way over priced for what you get. However it is on par with other similar located offering similar amenities.
They might have offered free breakfast , I am not sure noting that they didn't offer much information with regards to any hotel amenities on check in.
I would probably check around for a better place/deal but would stay here again if I found that the price was on par with other similar hotels in this area.
It is just average.
No toilet paper in main hotel bathroom. Notified both the front desk and housekeeping and was not given any toilet paper. Me and my 6 year old daughter had to use paper towels from hotel coffee station as toilet paper. Overheard housekeeper laughing to front desk clerk that they were “completely out of linen”. Cover plate to key card fell off of front door. Showed a picture to front desk and there was no response, not a “wow” or a “we’ll fix that ASAP”... nothing. Had to put it back on myself. AC barely works. Is set to 60° but the room felt like 80°. Notified front desk and they rudely said too late and too bad, no one here can fix it after 5:30. Had to leave refrigerator open for a couple of hours just to cool down. Bath tub doesn’t drain while showering. Stood in a pool of our own filth. We’re not even going to bother to complain because the front desk is so uncaring and disrespectful that they’ve said Bon Voyage to hospitality.
The hotel staff was the best. The staff was very accomadating to our requests. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Pool was clean. Breakfast had great choices. Nice location. Will be going back again soon.
Arrived at Portland Maine this past Sunday and we stayed at the Fairfield Inn. Staff was very very friendly and even the manager (or at least who I assume to be the hotel manager) was kind enough to give me a map of downtown and recommend places to pick up local seafood. (we ended up trying two of the places and each were very delicious) ;-)
Room was very clean (which was most important to us) and the lobby area, pool, dining area were all very well kept. Complimentary breakfast was nice and they had the usual offerings (yogurt , eggs, waffles, sausage, cereal, etc.) Plenty of parking, the hotel is located just a few minutes from the airport as well as major highways which was a big plus as someone not familiar with the area at all. The only negatives - Our standard Room and bathroom was very small. And I informed the front desk agent at check-in that I had Platinum Elite status with Marriott and was hoping for at least a king bed (instead of double beds) or possibly an upgrade..Was granted neither bed choice, or late check out.She didn't seem to acknowledge any benefits of such status.....But other than that, Hotel is clean, conveniently located, and staff is very friendly. Would stay here again!
