This is the first review I have left for a business and it is necessary. PLEASE READ this review before booking. Our family rented the 4 bedroom cabin for 4 day in August of 2020. To start the lake location is actually very nice, they have a great view from the dock. That is the only positive. You drive in and there are a number of falling down sheds and structures but we can look past that, however, our cabin was another issue. The front door knob was broken and didn't function properly, the front door also didn't fit properly so it wouldn't open all the way. MICE MICE MICE...you can expect to meet up with little critters when staying in a cabin but these mice were clearly taking over and had become almost domestic. They had no problem crawling all over your food you had just prepared while you were standing right there. We threw a number of meals during our stay due to these little rodents. It lists Wi-fi and it was an important feature, that I confirmed with the owner prior to going, since I needed to be available for work, however the wifi is terrible, virtually non-existent. The biggest issue I saved for last...there were two electrical outlets in the upstairs bedroom that were broken and open exposed metal was showing. This was a big hazard and had one of our children touched this it could have caused serious harm. I contacted the owners once we left requesting a partial credit for our stay since it was definitely false advertising and they felt no desire to try and rectify the situation. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you have children. Safety is not a concern. We have been staying in the Moosehead area for years and had wonderful stays in all the other locations.
No locks on the doors, dog waste everywhere, promised a t.v. Had the that but it didn't work and was told to light a fire and relax. Should show pictures of the bathroom! The shower is a rusted and filthy stall. Bedroom lamp switch taped up with electrical type. The beds are on a slant. The cabin was filthy🙀 Stayed one of two nights and slept in our clothes because it was to late to get another place. Owner said she had a bad day and couldn't listen to us and closed the door. Called the next day and couldn't get any money back.
We have stayed here twice, once in the Lakeside and once in the Riverside cabins.
We enjoyed both trips. We weren't expecting fancy, we booked here because we wanted a relaxed stay in a comfortable cabin, and that is exactly what we got. The cabins were clean and comfortable, with plenty of room. We had nice porches, in both of them, and just enjoyed walking around, and looking at the views of the lake.
It was exactly what we had expected, and we definitely plan on staying here again.
The cabins at Wilson's are so neat & clean. We stayed in the " honeymoon" cabin- one that is very close to the shore of Moosehead Lake. With the wind blowing & the temperatures dropping, we were very cozy in our cabin- the bedroom has a wonderful Queen bed with the best comforter I think I've ever slept under. Cozy & warm were my husband & I. Coffee maker, stove & refrigerator with a couch and fireplace!!!! All the comforts of home & more. Listening to the wind & the water on the rocks, and a warm, comfortable bed was all it took to get a great night's sleep.
I've always wanted to see a moose. I live in Upstate New York, next to Vermont and even have been to Alaska. Have never seen a moose in the wild. Finally it was decided, where is the most logical place to see a wild moose? Moosehead Lake, of course! So, I spent a lot of time investigating places to stay. Wilson's on Moosehead Lake sounded perfect to me. Right on the lake, we obtained a one bedroom cabin (Riverside). The cabin was spotless. Although rustic, it had everything we needed, and I was so appreciative of the fact that it was so clean. Cabin had a screened-in porch that overlooked the lake. Located out of Greenville, it was just far enough away to get the out-in-the-woods feeling, but close enough to run in for groceries or restaurants. We were there before the season really started and I didn't mind because I only wanted to do two things, see moose and fish. Saw my first moose before we even arrived at the cabin and over the time we were there (a long weekend) I would see 10 moose (5 on the last full day). The lake is beautiful and the grounds well-maintained. Pets are allowed here, but must be leashed at all times and cleaned up after. This was the only paradox I saw in this place. The owners have multiple animals (dogs and cats) that wandered at will and left occasional presents where I would like to have walked. That was the only negative I found, but not much of an issue, as it seemed they must clean up after them at times or it would be a lot worse. Fly-fishing is just a step away from the cabins, just on the other side of the interesting dam that was right to the left front of our cabin. Had no luck fishing with a bobber and worms in the lake. I think the lake is mainly trout and salmon. Bass are over in a different section of the lake, Would definitely go there again (but want to learn how to fly-fish first) for a nice getaway! Final words: Beautiful, peaceful, natural, with room for adventure!
