We received a warm welcome at this beautiful, clean, rural hotel. Bedrooms and public facilities full of character with stone walls and wooden beams. Good dinner and breakfast. Very happy with our visit.

If you want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of your city life, relax, and enjoy nature, this is the place to do it. Rugando is located approximately 25 minutes up a steep, windy road on top of the mountain. Although paved, the road has no railings and barely fits 2 cars. If your brakes do not work, do not go up. You can make no mistake that you have arrived. The hotel is basically built into the mountain. Made of stone and rock, the accommodations are sparse, but you expect it from a rustic place like this. Amazingly, there is wifi and TV, but the wifi is only good in the reception area and the channels are limited. Food is limited to three meals a day at certain times and maybe snacks and a bar, but open at designated hours. However, the staff is super friendly and flexible. You just have to request it 24 hours in advance. In addition to your room, they have these other areas were you can read a book, play ping pong, relax with family, and a very nice indoor pool. Hotel is located right across from a river which provides tons of exploration time for the kids. You can also go hiking in the trails around the hotel. The meals were elaborate with fish, chicken, and lamb for dinners and a variety of appetizers and desserts. I had a great cold honeydew melon soup for appetizer one night and some delicious fried lumina fish another. The best part was that the bill for 3 nights for 6 rooms and for all meals for 15 people was less than 2000 euros!!! A great way to just get a way. They are less occupied during the week. It is a gem in a remote location and we are definitely going back next year!!!

I went in November with my husband and my mother in law. They had an autumn special gastronomical offer which was more than fantastic and totally worth a try. The location is great with a chesnut tree wood right in front of it and a river usable in summer with a bathing area -cold waters, mind. The food was terrific, tasty, plentiful and a superb combination of tradition and innovation. The staff are friendly and Mari Carmen is specially welcoming and nice. The rooms are big and the beds really comfortable and the hotel is full of indoors posibilities in case of bad weather -billiards, dvd-room, ping-pong, chimney resting lounge, library and from May on an ecologically indoor warm swimming pool. If you like trekking and scenery and views it is perfectly located to profit from nearby posibilities. We loved it and would love to come back.
