I have stayed at Extended Stay America hotels before and this specific hotel was well below their standards.
Let me start by saying the staff were all friendly and helpful. The pamphlet I was given upon checkin explained everything.
Upon checkin, I was told the room I reserved (Double beds) was not available. Apparently my room had been given to another patron. Instead I was offered a Queen room, though handicap equipped. Since I had no choice (that was the only room available) I took it.
When I entered the room, the first thing I noticed was a musty smell, the second was that my shoes were sticking to the (linoleum) floor. Unfortunately housekeeping had already left (it was 9pm). Fortunately, I travel with Clorox wipes so I was able to clean the floors.
The carpets were also dirty and there was refuse in various places. I found bottle caps on the floor behind the recliner and under the bed.
I got settled the best I could (no hangers in the closet). However, when I went to take a shower, the shower head and hose were mouldy. Out came more Chlorox wipes.
After my shower, I went to get ice (no ice machine) and found there were no ice trays. The front desk immediately supplied them (though I still didn't have ice since it had to freeze).
The breakfast was fine, exactly as advertised...oatmeal, coffee, tea, muffins and breakfast bars.
The room was quiet and cool, the A/C worked fine (though every time I came in the room I noticed a musty smell).
The area is fine...across the street from Broward mall on one side, the Fountains shopping in the other and plenty of restaurants and grocery stores near by.
Would I use Extended Stay again?
Maybe, depends on my plans.
