Had not booked any accommodation in Steamboat Springs and with one place fully booked and another quoting telephone numbers for a night's stay this place was ideal. The owner is eccentric and though I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of him I found him to be straight forward and he helped me as best as he could as I have a visible disability and he managed to juggle things around to allocate me a ground floor room for under 100 dollars while managing to crack a few jokes on the way. The room itself took me back to my first visits to the USA in the 1970's & 80's but it had everything required to enjoy a good night's sleep though the TV was old style, small and difficult to see when sat on the bed though there was a comfortable chair in the room to relax on. The bed was comfortable though I did not appreciate the plastic sheet underneath that made you sweat. Even in a brief chat with the owner it brought home to me that running a motel like this as an independent is not easyand despite the quibbles I would stay here again as it provided what I needed for the night while it was well situated on the main street in Steamboat Springs with a decent Sports Bar next door that resulted in a good meal and a memorable evening.
Not only is everything in this room from the 70s, it's filthy dirty, the mattresses are hard and wrapped in plastic, our heat didn't work so the room was 60 degrees the whole 4 days, there was a day we didn't get our room cleaned and beds made, and on top of everything else, my husband woke up with at least seven bug bites, big ones, like something bigger than a mosquito and this is in January when everything is supposed to be dead. He had large red welts all over his body. Also no hair dryer, and the TV was so small we could barely see it from our bed.
This motel had your basics ... clean room plus queen-sized bed. The owner has a good sense of humor. The room had a small frig and microwave even a Mr. Coffee! We were staying one night so didn't feel the need to pay a lot for a place to sleep. We wanted to be in downtown Steamboat for restaurants and shops. Ok stay!
My dad took three of my sons out to visit Colorado this summer, and while traveling they stayed here one night. One of my sons left his watch here, and called not too long after leaving. They assured him they would go get it out of the room, and call him back immediately. They never did. I've called several times myself, and no one answers. Left messages, sent emails to no avail, so now I'm writing a review.....from the sounds of it, it's a pretty shady place. They also charged more for the room than advertised.
Stayed here for one night. I found the owner rude and discriminating. When asking which rooms were available for another nights stay I suggested myself and my male friend could share a double bed if there weren't any two bed rooms available, as it was a busy weekend in town. He said that he didn't ever let two men share a bed in his motel.
this made me feel very uncomfortable, and it's no doubt homophobic. I was shocked at his reaction and don't think it's any of his business who sleeps in a two person bed
The room was overpriced, costing us over 100 dollars. I've stayed in much nicer motels for half the price. Room was very basic, seemed clean enough to me. I expected some body wash and shampoo for what I paid, though there was only a hand soap dispenser attached to the wall of the shower. Motel is located in the downtown area which is a perk.
