I have stayed here several times, both solo and with family. I really like this hotel and its history. It may be a little dated here and there but I think it is charming. It is definitely a bargain for the comfort and service and location. The staff has always been super friendly and professional.
Our last stay was the first time we had an issue (vent was making high pitched squealing noise), and the evening staff had us quickly moved to another room.
I will be back!

I came across this hotel once and fell in love. I needed a quiet place to get some rest and let me just say you will not be disappointed. The room itself was very homely and then the BED! best sleep ever!

This is a Thank You to the rooms manager for reimbursing me for the second of my two nights, in which I had to be evacuated from the room - only CalFire staff was staying there.
Because I went through the (shady..) Trip.com booking, the hotel could not reimburse me directly. I had to call Trip.com numerous times and get the run-around, ultimately having someone spout a bunch of nonsense at me as to why being evacuated from wildfire apparently isn't a good enough reason for a refund. Learn something new every day, I guess.

I will say that it was a little weird that there were no towels in the bathroom, and I had to go to the front desk to ask for one. They quickly hooked it up. I got takeout from a restaurant in town, who did not provide utensils for the meal. The front desk was also quick to hook me up with some forks and spoons when I asked.

There's more I could say, but ultimately, alls well that ends well, and I feel that they took my situation seriously, and I really appreciate the timely refund for that second night.

What a bad time to travel! Everythings closed pretty much but we found that the hotel was very nice. The check in was fast and easy, parking is next door (and expsvive). We stayed in a nice room on the 2nd floor so we could use the stairs if the elevator was not there. The gym was closed but they gave us a card for another one. Restaurant was open for outside but we did not use. No problems, had a nice time.

We arrived late on a Friday while on a business trip. The goal was to stay at the hotel for 2 nights and work from the hotel so we can catch a break from being on the road. Little did we know what we signed up for.

We arrived to the hotel at 9PM after a 6 hour road trip. Check in was pleasant and we did not think anything of it. We got to our room and did not think of anything as we unpacked our luggage and went out to grab a quick bite. We finished dinner and decided to hop into the shower to freshen up before bed and that was where we noticed how dirty the room actually was.

The bath tub had an entire layer of dirt, with hair everywhere in and around the tub! By now it was already 11 or 12 PM and simply just wanted to go to bed. Figured the hotel can take care or change rooms in the morning. To make matters worst, we left to get lunch and someone stole all of the badges and decals off our car! In the parking lot we had paid $30 a night for! Not only did we not feel safe inside the hotel, but did not feel safe being in the area. We quickly packed up out stuff and checked out. On the way out of the hotel, I noticed a note on the table. It states that the hotel only has room service once a week!! What?!?!

We reported the incident to front desk and was told their manager would contact us. After 4 days, no response. Had to finally call in again and reexplain the situation to the manager who acted like he never received a report regarding the incidents and concluded that he was not willing to do accommodate the night we stayed there. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!!! The hotel itself is a direct reflection of its management.

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!

Response from randy zimmerman, General Manager at Four Points by Sheraton San Jose Downtown
Responded 13 Aug 2020
This is a duplicate review, posted again following managements response to their concerns yesterday. This review has been flagged for removal. The text of the management response is below: Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry to hear that your visit was disappointing and appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Per our discussion, we regret that the issues were not shared with our team until the day of your departure; we strive to rectify problems immediately and could have remedied the situation on-the-spot; we're sorry that this brought about inconvenience. The cause of the residue in your bathtub was attributed to hard/rusty water, from a leak or discharge that occurred following the rooms cleaning. There was a backflow device test on our water main the day you arrived (this is done annually as required by law), in which the water is turned off temporarily which we believe contributed to this. We also are sorry to hear about the situation with your vehicle; the parking lot adjacent to the hotel is city-owned, and accordingly the hotel is not liable for any damages or loss, as indicated by the various signage throughout the property, and on the ticket stub you were issued. As discussed, kindly notify the San Jose police so that your insurance claim may be expedited. Should assistance be required, feel free to include me in any correspondence or reporting. Again, I'm sorry that your stay was not enjoyable, but we do hope that you'll again consider us for any future lodging needs in San Jose. - Randy Zimmerman, GM
