Hello Zodwa. Thanks for your kind review. Yes, the roads at Gwahumbe are adventurous and a 4x4 is required or at least a 4x2 with diff lock. Remember that our guided game drives depart twice daily so if you dont have a big car, you can still explore the reserve with us. We purposefully have chosen not to put TV's in the rooms so that you can enjoy the natural landscape and animals all around you. We do hope to see you again soon.

A warm welcome, good food and wonderful location.
The accommodation was excellent, tea & coffee in the room with real milk from the room bar fridge (replenished daily)
Meals were prepare and presented well.
Limited game, but a very enjoyable game drive around the reserve.
Friendly staff and warm bar atmosphere.
Will happily return.

We had been looking forward to this trip for some time
We were greeted by a staff member on arrival.
Everything seemed ok
We were put into Sable room
It looked ok
But as I turned around the wallpaper was peeling off the wall
They said it had only just happened and they were waiting for glue to repair it.
The bed linen was clean but old
Definitely need upgrade
The grounds wer well kept
But I had my reservations about the kids area, the trampoline was in disrepair
The slide was old ... nit good at all.
Some if the outer buildings where in disrepair dirty boma area
The list is endless dirty tables under glass cover to babe just one
On the whole the main house was ok and the food was excellent.
Well done to the chefs
As there was only two of a Gwahumbe we didn’t see much if the staff
And they only came once or twice to see if we needed anything or a drink.
Cheers to the ranger ... he knew his stuff and we had a lovely tour of the valley.
I was really looking forward to this part of the holiday but was a little disappointed.
Would we go again probably not.,,

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that your stay with us was not as you expected. With regards to the wallpaper, we have been having a continual issue with this. These rooms were revamped in November last year and we have been experiencing moisture issues. We have ordered extractor fans that will be fitted to the top of the thatch to draw out the excess moisture. We have tried on numerous occasions to re stick the paper but until the extractors are in place, the paper will not hold. Ali, our GM has indicated that she spoke to you about this concern. We apologise about this and realise that it is not ideal but we are attending to the matter. Thank you for your comments on the linen, we usually re assess all linen in March and the new order has been placed. We are delighted that you enjoyed the food and your game drive. We appreciate your concerns about the jungle gym and have some solid plans to upgrade it. We appreciate you bringing the attention to detail items to our notice and we will certainly address them.

Having never been to this lodge before, one is always nervously cautious. We were greeted at the door on arrival, shown around and where our room was. The room was amazing. Well appointed, spacious, modern and had a lovely view over the valley. We dropped our bags and dashed the SPA (were already running slightly late for our booking) . The SPA treatment was exactly "what the doctor ordered" - I think we fel asleep during the session.
Drinks on the patio while waiting for dinner listening to the sounds of nature - THIS IS SOUL FOOD
We had arranged a romantic dinner in their wine cellar. It is small but roomy enough not to feel closed in, Candles were lit everywehere and we could not have asked for a better Anniversary Dinner.
Breakfast the next morning was more than enough with a good selection of cereals, yoghurts and fruit juice. The hot breakfast was tasty and well cooked.
We will DEF go back for another stay this this lodge

lacking of fan in room, was musty when we walked in. maybe room should be aired before arrival.
Maybe rooms can have wifi. When it rained on Saturday night, rain came under door on patio side, So floor was very wet. Maybe a solution can be looked at.

Dear Debbie, We apologise that you were not comfortable in your room during your stay. Next week we are installing extractor fans due to the fact that Marley Tiles have been put on top of the thatch. We were not aware that water comes under the door when it rains, we will look into rectifying this. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Hope we can accommodate you in the near future. Kind regards Ali Karlsen General manager
