The room was shoe box size with insufficient sockets and only one bedside light. The washbasin had a hole in it so if it was filled too full it washed your feet! We booked on room only basis expecting to buy breakfast but there was none. There was a function on Saturday evening right below our room with no soundproofing. The whole hotel closed all day Monday consequently we couldn't get anything to eat and had no room service. We also nearly got locked out without any warning. All in all a bad experience.
The rooms were quite not in order, thresholds were missing on the floor, window handles was missing. The traffic noice at the front was not to be missed, had to close the windows.
Room was not aircomditioned, so what could we do besides opening the windows.
I got to the hotel it was boiling hot and to get to a room with no fan or air-conditioning made us sssooo happy and to hear a scouse couple banging next door was the cherry on top . No fridge in the room so all of our drinks went hot. What an experience. Barelyenough room in the washroom for a 10 year old to move made showering a delight. Would highly recommend
Do you want to be comfortable and save money? Do you want a clean room, a nice staff and great food in a restaurant with a great atmosphere? Then I can suggest the Augustenfelder Hof for you. I would suggest that you coordinate your arrival with the owner. I slept like a baby in my big cushy bed and in the morning I chomped on breads, butter, jam and assorted meats. I washed it down with cold OJ and hot coffee. It's a great place for a family on a budget or friends traveling in group. It is centrally located from both the train station and concentration camp.
Pretty much, you get what you pay for. Pros: cheap, clean, comfortable, secure parking. Cons: noisy - rooms on the street (front) side are very noisy. Rooms in the back are less noisy, but there is still noise from an adjacent apartment building. I closed the window and used ear plugs, and no noise disturbed my sleep. The staff are very friendly and helpful - I first had a room on the street side and the window would not close, so the noise level was significant. I asked if I could have a room on the back side, and after first being told they were all booked, I was later told I could move (before the first night). The staff speak adequate English. The restaurant is good, but the meal prices are in line with the Munich area. There is a 6 euro extra charge for breakfast (which seems to be common in the Munich area). The breakfast was decent, but no eggs, fruit, cereal, or joghurt. One other con about a room on the front side - this is the sun side, and I imagine those rooms get quite warm on sunny days.
Bottom line - I would stay here again, IF I was assured of a room on the back side.
