Starting the work day in thanks for Daddy's staycation treat to remedy my being a Turumpo in the House. We did away with the weekend in Tagaytay due to the traffic congestion and opted for a literal home away from home at a quaint yet charming pocket of peace at the most surprising of places for a B&B - BF Homes! Purple Tree Bed & Breakfast felt like an invite to enjoy a stay at a good neighbor's guest house. The 2-yr old boutique B & B is better than the London budget B&Bs I know, as the halls are adorned with art, has a friendly staff and a gracious owner who shows genuine concern for her guests as she personally stationed one of her staff to look after my daughter in the pool while we were having our meal. Our mornings were greeted with a complimentary breakfast of our choice: brewed coffee, home-made pan de sal, butter, marmalade and a selection of how we want our eggs done. The Mushroom omelette is highly recommended! There are also Other foodie places to choose from at this city inn and more, all at walking distance. The long-weekend didn't just leave us with happy memories but also a story on how the name of the place came to be, and it is because of the old Duhat tree, which became the inspiration to name and imbue the Purple Tree hideaway.

Likes:
-Nice staff. The owners apologized when we had a problem with the cable tv. We were booked in a 4 bedroom suite but had to be transferred to a Deluxe Room because of it.
-The Deluxe Room is nice, it had a resort feel to it.
-Cheap. Good value for money. The 4-bedroom penthouse suite was Php10,000 and it's decently sized.
- It's surrounded by good restaurants - Zark's Burgers (popular burger joint), Dayrit's (must try their Corned Beef and Roast Beef).
- Good breakfast.

Dislikes:
-Parking may be difficult.
-Painting the outside of the hotel and cleaning the pool would be nice.

In my solo 5-week travel to the islands in March-April, one bed & breakfast in Paranaque was a truly pleasurable little oasis metres from the acid-rock noise and traffic and fierce tropical heat. My daughter booked me a 2 night stay at The Purple Tree. I booked 3 more nights prior to departure from the country.

Walking in through the streetfront, a wide generous blue and green space opens up and a duhat tree rises in the middle. The 'blue' are the pool below and the sky above it; the green are the duhat and the grass-covered yard laid in with brick. The owner, Suzy Atayde, designed the place. She named it Purple after the colour of the blossoms that fall off the duhat tree at this time of the year.

My room overlooking the scene is spacious and immaculate, air-conditioned of course. Morning starts with with a free continental of egg, rice and coffee out in the yard or in the café where the wi-fi is much stronger. Try the pancakes-- better than the ones at SM.

That business done, I'm wading into the pool and standing forever in the 'waterfall'. It's not always that quiet. On my last night in the country, a dozen young Korean students on vacation partied all over the place particularly the pool -- with rock music played at a thousand decibels.

A new SM and other malls further up Sucat Road are within a 10 to 15-minute walk from the Purple. Manila Memorial Park is about the same distance in the opposite direction.

The staff attends to you at all times: get your clothes laundered and pressed, fix you a late night snack, play the music you prefer while you're on Facebook, gets you a cold beer (no ice, please) when you're hot and tired from all that touring across town.

I fully recommend the Purple Tree. The low price is not all that's great about this little oasis.

My family and I took a trip to manila for a relative's birthday. He lives in Paranaque so naturally, we wanted to book a place near by. We found The Purple Tree through tripadvisor and decided to give it a try.

Despite it being located along one of the main streets of BF homes (President's ave.), Purple tree is surprisingly quiet and very relaxing. The noise coming from the busy street isn't heard at all once inside the room. We were lucky enough to have also met the owners of the hotel, who were very pleasant and welcoming.

The place is extremely well kept and in great condition, qualities not normally present in budget hotels we've previously stayed in. Rooms were very clean and cozy as well. The service was excellent and the staff were very accommodating. An added bonus was that the establishment had a pool which our kids really enjoyed.

Food was not really an issue. On meals that weren't spent with our relatives, the hotel provided a decent selection of tasty food. If you wanted to be a bit more adventurous, there are a wide variety of restaurants one can visit right outside the hotel, or in the new SM mall just up the street.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quality place to stay in!

My husband and I brought our son to Manila for a sporting tryout. We chose the hotel on the advice of a coach that said it was very close to where our son would be staying. Knowing nothing of Manila or the area, why not? The Purple Tree arranged a car to greet us at the airport. After two days of travelling it was most wonderful to see a sign with our names on it.
We checked in and the rooms were very clean but nowhere to put your belongings. We planned on staying 10-14 days so did not want to live out of a suitcase! The staff were amazingly accommodating, moving us to a room with shelves and small desk but telling us if we need more they would take care of it. But it was just right. Very clean, well maintained, comfortable, quiet and choice of fan or Air Con.
Breakfast every morning in the courtyard was the perfect start to every day. We were greeted by the staff with smiles and kindness every time. Eventually we got to know the family members who own the bed and breakfast. It is so much more than a bed and breakfast. It truly is "an oasis" in the middle of a big, hot, busy, bustling city!
Every day we thought we would leave Manila for a few days and go to the beach. Every day sitting having our breakfast on the patio covered in purple buds from the tree it is named after. Sitting drinking the best coffee we've had in a long time. Sitting by the tranquility of the quiet, little pool with the waterfall speaking to some of the friendliest, warmest, loveliest humans we've encountered for a long time. We never did get to the beach! A beach is a beach! We've seen many all over the world! We instead spent our time exploring the big, hot wonderful city of Manila and spending time with these wonderful people I'd like to think of as family!
The PT has 24 hour security and within a very short distance many little restaurants, several very modern and high end malls as well as night markets, incredible bakeries with Coconut bread and the best chocolate cake!
Transportation was probably the easiest of any city I've ever been in with many different modes depending on what your need is. Just closes your eyes as the driving is the most organized chaos I've ever seen! Lol
The only tip I'd like to pass on is to save costs with credit cards the PT prefers cash. Since there is a limit to how much you can withdraw in a day, I would like to suggest paying your bill by-daily. Or whatever works for you! Don't leave it til the end, you will end up with extra charges for using credit cards. Many small businesses are operating this way now!
In conclusion coming from an airline family that travels a lot ( both my husband and I work for a major airline and have been travelling for over 30 years) this was a most pleasant surprise. One of our favorite vacations in a very long time and a place we will not only return but will recommend highly. Nothing like travelling halfway around the world to a place you've never been and it being " like visiting family!"
On a personal note... Our son is still living close by and knowing he has people that have not only offered to keep an eye out for him, have been there for him! Priceless!! Says it all!! Thank you to our Purple Tree family!
