St Lucia is our sanctuary. Our home away from home when we need a weekend to switch off and unwind. Our go to spot since 2013 has been Manzini chalets on Mackenzie street. The 2 bedroom , 1 bathroom self catering apartments provide more than adequate space. They are well appointed and adequately equipped to make your stay comfortable. The grounds are immaculately maintained and the large pool inviting pool provides the ideal cool down after a long drive .. the manager Odette , goes hand in hand with Manzinis charm and personalized service. The complex is situated within a stones throw from dining spots, the sunset jetty and the famous market. Some of my most cherished memories with my family have been created at Manzini. From enjoying a traditional south African braai under the communal Boma, then watching the hippo come up and graze on the lawns under the magical African sky to finally climbing into a warm cosy bed.. your time at Manzini will leave you yearning to visit again.

Located near shops and not far from the beach. Atmosphere is cool. Self catering with kitchen utensils. Cleaners wash dishes daily. Hygiene in the chalets moderate, there's room for improvement . Beware of hippos signs displayed for safety.

This unit is beautiful, clean and very spacious. The kitchen is very well-equipped. The unit has two spacious bedrooms and a fabulous bathroom. The owners have added their own personal touch to the unit which gives it a homely feel. My toddler thoroughly enjoyed the pool on the property. Would recommend a stay here!

This is our third stay at Manzini Chalets and we keep coming back because we love the area and have family nearby. Sadly, this is our second quite poor experience (although in a different unit / property).

Unit 37 is in a great location with a huge amount of potential, but unfortunately, the maintenance appears to have been abandoned. It's got a great raised deck out back which gives you a good place to BBQ and it's wonderful to watch the passing bush buck, mongeese and occasional hippo. The unit is well supplied with more than enough plates, glasses, etc. and it's at the end of the row which means it's quieter than some other units, even in busy periods.

Unfortunately that's where the good bits end. The great deck was in complete darkness due to a blown bulb, but that was fixed after we raised it.

The deck looks in on the master bedroom, and the blinds in the master bedroom are faulty. The blind unit isn't fixed to the wall in any way, so attempts to open or close them result in the whole thing falling on you. So we eventually closed them, propped them in place and left them like that for the week.

The hot water pressure in the upstairs bathroom is almost non-existent, and the problem appears local to that bathroom. Pressure in both the kitchen and downstairs bathroom was fine. We reported it and nothing happened for a few days. Apparently the maintenance staff thought someone was sleeping in the room, so they just ignored it. After a few more chase ups, we were quite rudely told that the office manager (Odette I believe) had personally checked the property and everything was working perfectly; we should just let the water run for 3 - 5 minutes before using it. The attached picture shows the flow rate after 4.5 minutes, and it's certainly not acceptable in my book.

While on the topic of the bathroom, the toilet seat really needs updating. It isn't properly fixed to the toilet, and the condition is just awful as shown in the attached picture.

Moving out of the bathroom (and I'm sure by now we all want to!) the downstairs bedroom door did not latch closed. So unless you are REALLY friendly with everyone you're staying with, pack your own doorstop!

The couches are just abysmal. Thank heavens this is an outdoor paradise and you want to spend most of your time outside, because even on a rainy day, I'd rather sit on the wooden bench outside than indoors on the main couch. Even if we ignore the tears in the main couch (and I'm not sure why I should), it's just the most uncomfortable couch I've ever sat or lay on.

If it was just the condition of the property, I'd be inclined to accept it and wouldn't even bother with a review. What annoyed me was first the lack of response when reporting issues, and then the rude nature of the response when I followed up.

If the property is a work in progress or there are things to fix, take it out of the rental rotation until those things are fixed, or at least make tenants aware of the issues and offer either a rate reduction, or the opportunity to choose another unit.

We rented unit 38 for two nights and we liked the accomodation. We had a parking spot in the shade and the our chalet was large with a living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. We had a private garden with braai and the kitchen was well equiped. The unit was cleaned daily and the manzini chalets do have a nice pool (too cold in August). Few things were a little confusing. We had to wake up the security guard because we didn't have a key from the gate and we got wifi codes which worked ok but when we tried to go on-line on the second day we could not log in anymore.

I have to say that I think unit 38 was nicer than any other units.
