Friendly, hospitable staff at a small, quiet hotel with gorgeous views, great ac, fabulous outdoor dining room, great snorkeling right off the beach, and nice entertainment on some evenings. Staff was responsive and kind. Meals were attractively presented, and there was a very large dinner menu. However the entrees were hit and miss. Fish was not the chef's forte and tended to not be moist. If the chef could learn how to prepare fish, it could be a great restaurant. Meat entrees were better. The catch of the day was usually the same fish over and over. We preferred their lunches over dinner. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get away from the tourist scene and experience the Tahitian culture. Very relaxing!
What an amazing property! Smaller, intimate and completely relaxing. We came with 2 families and they were fairly booked. They completely worked with us to make sure we could stay the 4 nights we were there, by switching bungalows, etc which was VERY easy. We ended up in a Lagoon water view which was FABULOUS!!! DEFINITELY book it, you are right on the edge of the water with the most insane view. The property itself was perfect. Paddle board and kayaks were available all day for free, no need to sign in or anything. Food was super yummy, and you could walk down the street to a little market for snacks etc. The food truck across the street was amazing also and a lot cheaper. Make sure to get a boat to take you around the island, it is magical. The staff was so friendly and helpful and make sure to add the free breakfast to your stay, definitely worth it! We cannot WAIT to go back! Our teenage kids LOVED it and fit into our room perfectly!! THANK YOU for an amazing vacation!!! xoxo
We stayed in one of the new units (not directly on the beach). It was beautifully done with a private pool, large private yard area and new crisp sheets and furnishings. I like a nap during the brightest part of the day, and the room was cool and very comfortable. We enjoyed snorkeling in front of the property as well as taking guided tours arranged by the staff. The views over the waters out front cannot be beat. As far as food - I am still dreaming about the Coconut jam and French pastries we had at breakfast. As with many places in French Polynesia, it's some effort to eat off site of the resort. We prefer a casual dinner since by the end of the day, we're tired -the hotel dinners were more expensive than we wanted for a quick bite, and the hotel bar doesn't offer light evening meals. One night we had a restaurant pick us up for dinner - this required some effort in researching on our own and scheduling the restaurant to pick us up, but it was worth it - great memories. Since you need to work closely with the hotel staff on this to contact the restaurant when they are open, make a reservation, and arrange the restaurant to pick you up, Le Mahana should make this easier so you don't need to occupy hotel staff working on this for you. (maybe free local calls from the rooms and directory of restaurants, hours, and phone numbers in the room) We also ate lunch once at a snack shack next door - accessed by walking to the right down the beach.
This was the first stop on our honeymoon tour of French Polynesia and it did not disappoint! Hotel Le Mahana was very clean, and the staff were very friendly! Neither of us spoke French well, but the staff had GREAT English and was super pleasant anytime we asked them for anything. Our bungalow looked out over the small beach and the views were incredible. The room was very clean. Because we had to check out very early to get to our next destination, the night before the resort built a tray of breakfast foods for us to take back to our room and put in the fridge for the next morning, which I thought was very thoughtful of them. Overall, a great resort, great staff, and we would definitely come back here again!
This is a very good hotel. It has a quiet and calm atmosphere and is very elegant.
Loved the garden and room that were carefully cleaned.
The staff are very kind and warmhearted.
There are almost no restaurants nearby, but no problem, because restaurant in the hotel was very nice & delicious!
The hotel's private beach was great and it has many fishes.I recommend "Hotel Le Mahana" as the best hotel on this island!
The sacred marae ANINI is also nearby.
