There are some very nice apartments at the Masai, but the ”classic studio” is not one of them. It is a triangular shaped room that is best avoided. Very small. No closet or even wall hooks. No chair or desk Very little room for luggage. The ceiling is so low that you can reach up and touch it. Painted cinder block walls and a concrete floor. The bathroom sink has only a cold water faucet. The shower has an electrically heated shower head, sometimes known as a "suicide shower."

The room backs onto the site’s gravel parking lot, so you hear cars and people coming and going late at night or early in the morning. Palm tree leaves blowing in the wind across the metal roof also create a lot of noise.

This is the only room that is not facing the central courtyard/pool area. The "patio" is actually part of the sidewalk between the parking lot and the main buildings.

The room is probably a converted storage area. Despite all of this, the price is not much lower than some of the other rooms.

Other rooms at the Massai are much nicer. The pool is great. The manager is very helpful and is working to upgrade the facility. But there is not much that can be done for the "classic studio" room.

We had a nice two bedroom apartment, both bedrooms had AC. The rooms are dated, bathroom is small but there was everything we needed there. The pool area is lovely and the pool was very clean. Lots of sun loungers, hammocks etc. There is a well stocked supermarket right next door which is very convenient. There are security gates on the drive which are kept locked at night so we felt very safe. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

I love the Macaws and even though they are pets. The door were open and they were free to go if they chose. They flew around the property and you could tell they were a loving pair and beautiful. The hosts Miguel and Susan were great. Miguel even made us Spanish tortillla I think they called. it. (Susan I am still waiting for the recipe)
Our apartment was very nice. My only complaint would be that there should be air conditioning in the bedroom. The cool air from the a/c in the other room doesn't make its way to the bedroom. The pool was very refreshing.

Uf looking for luxury and confort is not your place. This are small but comfortable apartments with basic kitchen equipment. I got a big room and only one room got AC, but all areas got vent.
My only downside is there was no house keeping during our stay. The owner runs the place by phone was great and gave us a lo of advices but unfortunately was not there at the time of our stay and can't comment any further.
I could return, was a good option for the price.
Lots of beaches near by, not too many restaurants. Pictures here are very accurate forgot to take mine.
