Great location and amazing installations. Clean place. Food was delicious and great selection. There is a bar and food music perhaps you don’t hear a lot of this in your (private) room. More of a relaxing hostel than a party one. Great views and nice pool.
The downside was that the staff looked very exhausted and the owner would work 20h a day which made her do some calculation mistakes and made her impatient with us. I would recommend to double check your tab at the end ! They tried to make us pay the tab of someone else and a tour we didn’t do with them. The woman owner yelled at my boyfriend and wouldn’t want to talk to him when he told her about the mistake. One night my brother in law wanted to go to the Zephyr lodge which is just a 5min walk away to party and the woman told him not to go because the road was really dangerous and full of crackheads... He wound up going anyway with no problem and was told by the staff at the other hostel that she told stories like that to avert her clients from buying elsewhere.
Cold showers. No refill of filtrated water (you have to buy bottles). Wifi only in one public place.
In the end I was really deceived that such a wonderful placed could be ruined by the mood of the staff and attitude of the owner.
Like most other accommodations in Lanquin, this hostel is somewhat rustic, but that is part of its charm. The rooms and bathrooms are very basic, but clean, and the beds are comfortable. The hostel staff is extremely helpful and even let us check in after midnight (we got lost on the way from Coban).
The views from the pool are absolutely amazing, and often we have the entire pool area to ourselves.
It is definitely a more quiet hostel, better for relaxing by the pool and reading a book. If you are looking to party and meet other travelers, the Zephyr Lodge might be a better choice.
The only downside was that the food and drinks at the hostel were a bit more expensive than elsewhere. Luckily, it is only a 10-minute walk into town.
I stayed in Vista Verde with some friends for 3 nights.
The views here are exceptional and the sunrises are a must.
The staff, Lisa and Elder are exceptionally nice and caring.
Lisa was super helpful, friendly and always ready to answer any questions.
Elder also took us on a tour to do tubing and we had so much fun going down the local river learning about Mayan history.
The common area has good vibes and great for meeting people.
The pool is great too for relaxing with outstanding views.
Just remember its an eco lodge so electricity doesnt run until the evening into night time. *you can just charge your phone etc in the common area if needs be during the day
Thank you Lisa and all for an awesome stay, I hope to come back one day.
Definitely recommend !
When we were looking for a hotel in Lanquin we came across this place. Lisa (from the reception) was sooooo nice. So we just needed to stay.
The cabanas are cozy, the toilettes clean.
There is electricity from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Internet (very good coverage) all day long.
They have a good menu with fair prices for the big portions you get.
Alternatively, you can also walk into Lanquin (15 - 20 min) to buy stuff or have a cheap(er) eat.
The highlight is the view. It is really great. Especially from the pool. We just enjoyed one day at the pool with the view and some cool beers.
It is an excellent place to stay.
This is not real eco resort but thes try to be more responsible and use nature more sustainable. Clean rooms and good restaurant. From the pool on the hill top is great view, but the water is quite cold cause of elevation and often cloudy weather.
Good place for relaxing and exploring caves and visiting Semuc Chapney National Park.
In village Lanquín is nothink great to see, only a few small shops, restaurants and tents with street food (fast food). It is muddy, dusty place with bad roads..
