This place is worse than terrible so one star in my opinion is far too generous
If I could have got the date booked on line I would have been here a week what a relief that I could not do this I would have been stuck here with no chance to cancel (one of the downsides of booking on line)
I have stayed here about five times before when it was under the management of a Norwegian lady and had no complaints.
This time a total disaster, I was staying in the nearby City of Natal with my family and I had some business to do in Pipa, so we called at Pipa Beleza to see if they had any rooms, at reception no one could speak any English, so they phoned someone in reservations who offered me a 2 bed apartment for R$900 WOW! this is the low season and the last time it cost me R$250 on the high season I asked could they do any better as I had stayed there many times before, they said the best they could do was R$600 per night if I stayed for 3 nights and paid upfront, so because we had stayed here before and knew the place I said ok and paid half the money upfront cash (big mistake should not have paid cash)
Anyway we got into the apartment checked it out looked ok. When I was walking about the hotel I noticed that it looked very run down since my last visit, round the pool the beds were really dirty and well worn they needed replaced, the pool still looked ok and the kids wanted to go for a swim so I went and asked for some towels R$4 per towel they wanted!! and I had to sign for them in case I did not return them (in all my years of travelling I cannot remember ever being asked to pay rent for pool towels)
That night we turned the beds down and noticed some ants on top of one of the beds, we just brushed them away we are in the tropics here and this may be the norm, but then on my sons pillow I noticed some stains (it turned out later these were cockroach stains) anyway said nothing at this stage and did not use the pillow,
Well next morning all of our beds were covered in blood, mosquitoes all over the place.(we had all been bitten)
I went down right away to the reception and said what had happened and wanted to speak to the manager (there was only one person a barman that could speak English so he translated for me) they said that the manager was not in yet and would be in later and they would send him to talk to me, in the meantime they would change my room I said ok.
We then went to breakfast (anyone that has ever had a Brazilian breakfast will tell you that they are the best in the World) this breakfast was poor, watered down fruit juice, stale bread rolls, stale cake, bluebottles walking all over the food, flies in the cereal and the packets of butter had been left in the heat so they had gone off, I pointed this out and they brought me a scoop of butter from the kitchen (I said to my wife I bet they will put the same butter packets out the next day and guess what I was right)
Anyway we got our new room, looked ok it had one mosquito net.
In checking the wardrobes out I found a dead cockroach I at once brought it to reception and asked them to explain and asked again where was the manager, they said he was in Natal and would not be in today, I then got them to call the person I was speaking to the day before, when I spoke with them I said that I wanted to checkout and wanted the money back that I had paid for that day, they said that they could not refund (I had paid cash big mistake I was stuck) I asked for the managers phone number, they would not give it to me but they gave me his email
So I went back and wrote him an email explaining what had happened, up until now I have not got a reply (I also put the cockroach in an envelope and told the reception to make sure that the manager got it)
That night was even worse than the night before, an army of ants (maybe sent by the management!!) got into our bed between us we had over 100 bites the next morning.
That was it I was not going to stay one more night, so we packed, I told reception that I wanted my money back for that night they said no, but they did give me the directors email (I wrote him a long email and still am waiting for a reply!) I also left the stained pillow for the director to checkout it was cockroach droppings!
I had just paid the bill and then the barman comes running into reception to say that he had to put the towel rent on the bill, I just paid him to get away from the place.
So summing up.
I see some European tour operators send clients here, if they read this I would strongly recommend that they do a mystery shop here as it may not be the same place that they checked out before (I see even on trip advisor the ratings are coming down)
I would always pay any deposit with credit card never cash to this place.
There is no real management here, I never saw a manager .
The management is not interested in clients, I am still waiting for a reply to my emails.
Do you think I will be back not a chance.
