Although the location might be nice, and the staff occasionally helpful, pounding music started in our room every morning at 8am. This was curtesy of the bar the rooms are built over, and the terrible music continues all day and well into the night. The rooms were a bit pricey, and the breakfast abysmal (just bread and fruit and water pretending to be juice). If you have another choice, stay somewhere else.
My girlfriend and I extended our stay due to the friendly staff and beautiful beaches. We originally planned on spending a few nights in paraty but after Paula from Che Legarto in Paraty recommended the beautiful Trinidade beaches we couldn't resist! We immediately booked a room in Trinidade and stayed for 5 days. I can't thank the staff enough for being so hospitable, friendly, and really fun! Jan was especially helpful in advising us on places to swim, body surf, and where to enjoy great meals. The rooms at Che Legarto in Trinidade are reasonably priced and the hostel is clean and very close to the beach. Did I mention we don't speak Portuguese?! Most of the staff speaks at least two languages and so do many others in Trinidade. Things we also liked about Che Legarto included their use of solar power, complimentary breakfast daily, and that they have a bar on the premises. The only thing missing on our trip was internet access. The wifi was down during our stay but apparently we weren't the only people without wifi. There was internet trouble at various cafés in town too. Thank you Che Legarto for a wonderful stay!
I don't know why people don't spend a night or 2 in Trindade. Don't day trip from paraty. Stay a night in Trindade.
The hostel had great room and an awesome garden hang out area with pool and bar.
Great location, 2 mins to the beach and across from great restaurants and markets.
Staff were fantastic, breakfast was brazil standard.
Ask about hiking to swallow hole and the natural pool on the beach.
We had just stayed in Che Lagarto paraty the night before coming to Trindade. We wanted to stay at a beachfront pousada but they were super expensive. We walked one block inland and stayed at Che Lagarto for super cheap in a private room (not much more than the dorm room prices) and had lots of space to spread out, a private bathroom, and balcony with a hammock. Our giant windows opened up to the gorgeous hillside views of Trindade. The staff was super friendly, especially Fernando and Zero. The breakfast spread was decent (though we usually use it to supplement our omelette breakfast we make) and coffee was really good. We shared the kitchen with the staff workers and they had no problem with making room for us. We were located next to all the action, right by the beaches and restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone going to visit Trindade!!
This is a backpacker hostel and quality is reflecting this. Common area was pleasant, the grounds are nice. Breakfast was simple but adequate. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room we had was old, tired and dirty. Bare light bulbs, rickety shower doors. The sheets were threadbare. We had to ask for fresh towels and have daily maid service. Air-condition worked but very noisy.
