We just had a great 2 night stay (7/28-30/2020) at Ridgeside B&B. The rooms were nicely appointed (we stayed in the Chestnut Suite) and the breakfasts were DELICIOUS and varied (omelets one morning, french toast the other). For a time of "no-contact" due to Covid-19, inn owner Corinne made sure that there was plenty of contact - from the emails before our trip to talk about food issues and give suggestions, to the regular texts during our stay to let us know what was happening re: breakfast that day, etc., we felt well taken care of, even though we never actually saw Corinne & Josh!
This is a great place for a mountain mini-vacation - we hiked in the mornings (Crabtree Falls, Humpback Rocks) and toured the Nelson 151 craft beer/wine areas in the afternoons and Ridgeside B&B is perfectly located for this. We also had a nice dinner at the Farmhouse at Veritas...which is within walking distance of the B&B. We didn't spend much time using the B&B features, but one pleasant surprise was a nice ridgeside trail that leaves from the B&B that we hiked the morning before we checked out.
I highly recommend Ridgeside B&B!
We just vacationed in Virginia staying in 4 B&Bs. On our way home we agreed this was our favorite. Ridgeside is not one of those old 2 story homes crowded in a museum district or residential area but it is worth your visit. Down a long, peacefully winding road you find yourself surrounded by the beauty of the mountains. As we approached the house, a deer walked across the road in front of us. The room was more than adequate, the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was delicious (much of it home-grown), and the hosts were very friendly with a lot of helpful suggestions of things to do in the area. Yes, we would go back!
I was looking for accommodations in downtown Charlottesville for a trip and quickly found out it was parents weekend at UVA. This led me to Ridgeside B&B which turned out to be an even better location--so close to Skyline Drive, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and several wineries. Loved the secluded location, breakfast was amazing each morning, and the other guests were nice to talk to. Corinne offered itinerary suggestions and I never say this, but I wish I ate more of her cookies. Room was quiet and clean and bed was comfy. I will definitely stay here again!
We stayed in the Dogwood Suite. It was very nice. Especially the bathroom. Bed was comfy. The only thing we were displeased by was the relative lack of interaction with the owners. We are used to more social atmospheres at B&Bs. We’ve generally become friends with the owners of most that we stayed at. The breakfasts were good, not great. I can’t say we were unhappy and the location is nice and private. We just didn’t feel at home like you usually do at a B&B.
Secluded mountain oasis
My boyfriend and I were here for one night in the chestnut suite, and we had a lovely time. Check-in was easy, the room was beautiful and comfortable, we especially loved the bathroom that opened to the deck. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and it seemed like most of the ingredients were from their garden. After breakfast, we went for a walk along the property and sat by the cow paddock with a view of the mountains. I highly recommend staying here, even if just for a night. We hope to return in the fall!
