I have stayed at the Kundutel Hotel several times over the past 2 years and wanted to share my experience.

Some of the reviews are a little rude and misleading.

First, you are in the Philippines and you are not staying at a 5-star resort.

The hotel is a little older but it is maintained fairly well and the staff and owner have always been nice.

Location: is not as bad as some reviews suggest. If you are staying in the city center you will be dealing with jeepney horns and other sounds of the city. You can take a jeepney ride to the city center for 7 pesos if you walk to the main road. Taxi to SM will run you 60 to 100 pesos depending on traffic.

Location: at night can be a bit loud depending on your location of your room. If you are a light sleeper and the smallest sounds wake you up the Philippines might not be an ideal location for you to travel. There is a club right next door which Kundutel Hotel does not own I know the owner of this club and they have nothing to do with the hotel. There are also a few bars nearby with live music. Usually not too bad during the week but on weekends can be a bit louder.

Rooms: the rooms are usually clean. Only had an issue one time where the room was not clean when I arrived so they changed my room. The toilets can be an issue from time to time due to low water pressure. Again you are in the Philippines you going to have issues with some of the simple things. Flush and hold the handle for a bit and everything goes down fine.

Staff: They have always been nice and very helpful haven't had an issue with them at all.

Security: I have never had an issue with my security or felt I was in danger at any time there are several security guards all around the complex at night. Never had an issue with leaving my car or motorcycle in front of the hotel at night or during the daytime.

Airport: Taxi's charge a fixed fee of 500 pesos to get to the airport.

WiFi: The WiFi is usually fairly slow but it does work. I usually just use my own internet via my phone hotspot.

The stays at this property have been: April 2016, September 2016, February 2017 and November 2017.

- Lied on the phone
- Hotel operates a strip club and several other strip clubs around
- Not suitable area for minors or families
- Cockroaches are widespread
- Bars around noisy until late at night
- Walls at the room was very dirty
- Swimming pool super small I was unsure if it was for birds or humans
- Bad location
- Aircon (A/C) noisy
- Wifi bad and unstable
- Red wine at restaurants served at wrong temp
- No power outlets for EU devices
- Only 1 power outlet available in room
- Old CRT tv
- Food at restaurant is so and so and expensive

Summary:
As I first inquire wether or not they had available rooms on the phone, the staff told me they only had superior rooms. When we got to the hotel it appears to me they actually have standard rooms available too. Super nice to know that the staff then lied to me on the phone.

Our room had several visitations of cockroaches, was equipped with a OLD tv and had only 1 power outlet, which was not suitable for EU devices. Hotel only had 1 EU adapter available for me to borrow.

The swimming pool was of a so small size I was first unsure wether it was meant for birds or for humans.

Wifi was slow and very, very, unstable.

Later at night we discovered the hotel actually operates its own strip club (or brothel) that is called Bunny Ranch, this is hardly a place for a family to go to. There are also several other strip clubs around in the area.

The nearby bars and strip clubs play loud music until late at night as well as the aircon unit making very loud noises, ultimately making it very hard to sleep.

Response from Kundutel, Public Relations Manager at Goldenfield Kundutel Hotel

Steffen E, We value guest feedback. LIED ON THE PHONE - When you inquire for an availability, superior room was suggested as you prefer matrimonial bed. Standard room has two single beds. BUNNY RANCH a bar next to the hotel is NOT AFFILIATED with our hotel. They operate on their own and have their own business permit to operate. SWIMMING POOL- as stated in our website hotel has a kiddie pool with a 3-feet depth. Kids and Other HUMAN beings can enjoy. All check-in guest have a privilege for an entrance and swimming at Caribbean Waterpark & Resotel (few walks resort from the hotel). We have a sign displayed at the front office and is stated in our website. WIFI- we have already called our ISP regarding this matter. COCKROACH- too much description to be reviewed as WIDESPREAD. Other guests have a pleasant stay when you were at the hotel. Our staff went to your room and have done an immediate action to this concern. Further, this matter has been reported to our Housekeeping and Maintenance Department. POWER OUTLET- for standard room has 2-4 power outlets suitable for 2-flat pin plugs. We can lend adapter (subject to availability). I Am also a traveler, I bring my own extension cords and adapter, this I may suggest to you on your next travel. Limited standard rooms have a Flat CRT TV. We are still on the process of upgrading. Goldenfield has once known as Night Life Area of Bacolod. Surrounding bars may have some noise, but you can also request for a quiet room. (subject to availability). I also suggest to check hotel website and review for more details before choosing you next hotel. Philippines is on the process of growing and upgrading and so our hotel. Please bear with us, we may meet your expectation someday.

We first stayed in a standard room was dirty, the toilet overflowed and the sheets had blood on them. we moved to a family room which was better but at night the noise was bad until 4am so due to the bars near by, i found it very difficult to get any sleep. there is a small pool not big enough to swim in, but there is free access to a near by waterpark.

We’ve been to Bacolod City just this month and this is the second time we spent a night in this hotel. The last time was with the entire family. We had a not so nice experience back then because we were awaken early dawn by a knocking sound (probably from the pipelines) followed by a steaming toilet bowl and a brownish dripping shower, but the place was clean and neat and food was great and a huge parking space. The second time was with my hubby. Hotels located near downtown area with available parking spaces were fully booked. We don’t have much choice looking for other hotels coz it was getting late. The room still looks neat and tidy, clean toilet but with awful smell. There was an interior door connecting to the adjacent room and this probably explains why we can hear voices from the adjacent room :-) BTW we stayed on the ground floor. We had a nice and comfortable sleep. I could have rated the place a 4, but there was this rude restaurant food server. We saw how he tidied the tables from previous diners like wiping them and never bothered to collect the crumbs, this explains why there was crumbs scattered on seats and floor. This same guy handed us the restaurant bill while we were still talking on our table without us asking him to do so. Personally, I think this is rude unless the restaurant has a “no eating, no sitting” policy. I’m still coming back though; maybe next time the management will find time to train this guy.
