It was my first time to book a hotel, not a beach resort, in Batangas. I did not book it through Trip Advisor since not many rooms were available during February 6-9, 2018 so I ended up having my Assistant book me a Premium Terrace room which was the only type of room that had a single King size bed which I prefer. Since they mentioned that it has a terrace overlooking the pool, I looked forward to spending some moments there.
The facade and the lobby was nice though I cannot see the point that those checked in or “in house” guests need to park our cars near the guard house at the gate while diners can park at the roundabout just outside of the lobby. Do these diners pay more than those checked in?
Reception and cafe personnel were all warm and attentive to needs. Sadly, I also had one hitch with them. I had to ask and call twice for them to serve my welcome drink. When it finally came, I took the chance to cool off with it on my room’s terrace. The welcome drink was cold coffee (no ice) and served in a wine glass. Since I love coffee, I didn’t mind the unusual welcome drink which I sipped with gusto. But what ruined my moment was sitting in a hard and unkempt lounge chair in a fittingly dirty terrace.
Luckily other parts of the room were well kept. I love the bathtub that relaxes me after a hard day on the road for the three nights I spent there. The bed and the countless pillows gave me restful nights.
I like their buffet breakfasts. Though it lacks the variety to choose from, they were creative with the menu, serving totally different dishes everyday.
If they raise their maintenance and general upkeep of the rooms, buildings and facilities, they could be the best hotel in Batangas.

I'm told that this is the best hotel in Batangas. To be honest, it's OK, but along way from being 5 star. The check-in process was OK, staff were friendly enough and the room a good size and clean. On a couple of evenings, there was alot of noise from an adjacent bar/club.
It has a good size pool (but I didn't use this) with sunbeds available. The gym is large for a hotel, but not very well equipped I'm afraid. Not enough variety of equipment or heavy enough weight to make it worthwhile.
Evening meals in the hotel where good, no complaints, but the breakfast "buffet" was very limited and disappointing. Addtional dishes, like bacon, could be ordered but at additional charge.

I live overseas but was visiting family in a nearby town. We wanted to have a staycation with family while shopping at SM Batangas to avoid the usual bad traffic. We wanted to get the best accommodation Batangas City has to offer based on the reviews and hotel offerings, so we were set on one hotel only, Hotel Pontefino. But we were bitterly disappointed just on our first night. After checking in, we went up to our room on the fourth floor and unpacked our bags. As we were about to leave our room, we heard loud sounds coming from the nearby Malvar tent on the ground floor next to the pool, so I asked reception before we left if there was an event that night and how long it was going to last for. The receptionist informed me it would be till midnight. I would have appreciated it if we were informed earlier, perhaps during the check-in process, that there was indeed an event that night, finding it a bit inconvenient that we need to pack our bags again and move. My husband and I thought we could wing it and just have our headphones on to deal with the noise. It also doesn't help that they have tiled floor, instead of carpet.
Upon our return from SM, we were welcomed by the loud noise from the tent, so I called reception and asked for a possible solution. They offered us to be moved to a room on the opposite wing, which we accepted. They were kind enough to upgrade our room as well.
So on the positive side:
1) Super comfortable beds
2) Friendly staff
3) Nice, warm and strong pressure showers.
4) Nice looking pool, though we didn't swim because it was raining and the pool is NOT heated.
However, overall, the detail is where it's at.
1) In the premium room (our original room), the bathroom/toilet gave off a ghastly smell, which I can't really explain and don't want to imagine what the origin would have been.
2) Still in the premium room, the bathroom didn't have any power point for small appliances such as a blow dryer (which they also didn't have on hand, you have to request it).
3) The mini bar didn't have anything in it. (you have to ask)
4) Room service: not all items were available. No fries available even though it's supposed to be included in one of the dishes we ordered.
5) Breakfast was ghastly. The buffet spread looked miserable. The entire buffet only had this: steamed rice, omelette, pancit, chicken wings, bread, cereal, fruits, coffee. Fresh fruits was not fresh; they were obviously from a can of fruit cocktail. Bread was stale. The very few cereal was stale and chewy. No milk readily available on the table, you have to ask, and when it comes, it is presented in the smallest jug. One kind of jam available. It didn't look like a breakfast buffet you would expect from a 4-star hotel. We did have have the option to order from the menu, but again, not everything was available.
Overall, I probably would not stay here again. It's sad but the managers need to benchmark from other 4-star hotels in Metro Manila if they want to improve customers' experience with them.
Suggestions:
1) Improve breakfast buffet...tremendously.
2) Install wall to wall carpets to help with the soundproofing of the rooms.
3) Soundproof Malvar Tent or have noise-cancelling systems.

Best hotel in Batangas with brilliant staff and a nice lounge and restaurant. breakfast is also good with plenty of variety including a a la carte menu to complement the buffet. Rooms are basic but clean and quiet and you will get a good nights rest for sure. Make sure you get a corporate rate otherwise this hotel is VERY Expensive for a provincial hotel in the Philippines.

That's what they say it is and I really think so too, although that's not saying a lot given the limited number of hotels in the city. We stayed here with my family, but my husband and I had a room for ourselves.
We stayed at the 1st floor, which is one floor BELOW the hotel lobby. I believe this is their least expensive room but the amenities were still okay and above expectation. :)
Pros:
Big room for 2, there were 2 double beds that could comfortably fit 2 person each - 4 in total for the room + sofabed.
Being vegetarians, we're used to having hotel breakfast a la carte. For those who do not like the breakfast buffet options, the guests can order a la carte from the breakfast menu free of charge. We ordered from their normal menu (not the breakfast) and were advised we have to pay - that's fine. However, in the end, the waiter said they won't charge us anymore and include it in the complimentary breakfast.
Service was great and very accommodating. We checked in at 2am on New Year's Eve and there were staff at the hotel lobby.
Room had complete amenities - wide screen TV, aircon, minibar, miniref. It also had a lounge / sofabed that could sleep an additional person.
Cons:
Bathroom and toilet in our room were separated - I understand that might be helpful for big families but didn't appreciate it as a couple.
1st floor had a smell - not annoying or bad but just different. I expect that's because we were at the "basement level".
No wifi in the room although there's free and fast wifi in the public areas.
We could hear muted sounds from the other room (where our family stayed since we had 2 rooms).

Room Tip: Probably best to get the rooms in the higher floors, based on my experience with the 1st floor...
