This is one old hotel you do not want to ever waste your money, time and energy on. This is what happened when there is no real competition - this hotel is state-owned, so it easy to conclude why other more renowned trustable brand of hotels never able to set foot in Kuala Terengganu.
Started by arriving early just before the check-in time 3pm, greeted by a rude, uninterested front desk staff. We didn't managed to get the connecting rooms we requested because the rooms were still occupied (understandably for a long-weekend holiday). We stayed (in 3 rooms) at "Premium Floor" that has everything but "premium". The room was old, there was no towel nor toothbrush (for a "premium" room price we paid, at least a single toothbrush is expected) and worse, the bed linen was dirty. The creaking air-condition sound made it worst to sleep at nights. We did not complain much, because we knew it was just going to ruin our 3-days-2-nights holiday.
But the next two days, the breakfast experience were even more terrible. The food were understandably limited in selections, but why on earth the egg station has a window that was closed all the time? There was a bell to ring, and it took almost 6-7 minutes of waiting (and repeated bell-ringing) for someone to entertain our request for the eggs of our choices. The empty food tray was not refilled after 20-30 minutes, and the congee / porridge smelled like rat dumping. The floor was dirty, the vacant tables were left uncleaned after guests left for more than 20-30 minutes. This made things worse because the restaurant was small, and many were told to share table against their own will. They were short of staff, and the lady manager sat at the counter meddling with her phone, seemingly with I-don't-care attitude. In fact, except for one waiter named Syafiq or Shafie (or something start with "S"), the others just did not care and served with no smile at all.
The swimming pool was popular with kids, but too saturated with people on the weekend. We noticed outsiders / non-hotel guests parked their cars at the unguarded car park near the pool and gained access to the pool. We did not enjoy the time swimming, and just used it once. There was a garden-picnic concept which we think was cool, but still far from a respectable hotel's standard.
I have always try to look for positive things whenever I stay at a hotel, but this is one I could not bail out. This hotel is owned by someone who just do not care, run by a group of people who also do not care. Tripadvisor would not let me swear on this review, so to kindly put it - this is one cesspool you would want to avoid at all cost.
