I stayed during off-peak season therefore it was suprer quiet. It was more a family type hostel and definitely not a party hostel! There was no common room, however the grounds were stunning and there was a nice swimming pool. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way!
I first came to this hostel on my friend's recommendation, stayed for 2 nights then but I'm hooked by the homey rooms, vast garden and pools and so when I was back I choose this place without a doubt' Stayed for four days at that time and now on the third visit, I'm on 2 weeks extended stay, been staying for a week already and nothing to complain about. Oh...they have a common room with cable tv and dvd player complete with a home theater quality also the wifi's excellent, what more could I ask. They provided a simple yet delicious breakfast too. Oh and Mr. Syarif (aka Mr. Ucok) is definitely the to go guy here at the hostel, with mr. Beli as well. For the price that I paid, it's soooo...worth it. One other thing...... I just found out that the owner of this place is a hec of a philanthropist, sooo....by staying here you kinda gave a little back to the community....awesome didn't even cover it :) :) two thumbs up!!!! Or three...or four LOL!!!
Stayed three nights in the female dorm. The place is fairly clean, the garden and pool are perfect and each bed has a lamp of it's own, which is very useful. WiFi is fast enough for a nice Skype-call and anyone who likes Indonesian tv-shows can use the tv in the common room. Free coffee, tea and water are available at all times. Breakfast is included and is simple, but fine: there's milk, some cereals, bread, a toaster and some jam. You can take as much as you like. The only thing I regretted is I met no fellow backpackers! The dorm was full, with local tourists. The good thing about that was that I met two very kind local girls who showed me around in Bandung. All in all, very good value for your money!
Gardeen hostel is perfect for backpackers like me, at an affordable price I get a satisfactory facilities. The pool, hot water, a comfortable bed and a cool atmosphere of the hotel with a beautiful garden is perfect for relaxing in Bandung. However there is a slight problem pungent odor of gas water heater is very disturbing me
We stayed in Bandung Garden Hostel(Swiss hotel school) for 2 nights, and wish we could have stayed longer.
Here's what was great about the hostel:
+staff was amazingly responsive, helpful and really went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable (planned bus route directions for us, told us the best places to get food, showed us around the garden etc.)
+pristinely clean sleeping areas, beds were made daily
+pool area was clean and quite private with great sun loungers
+shop right next door. There also seemed to be a spa next door, though we didn't use its services
+garden was beautiful and huge! It looked a little balinese because of the statues and the little paths among the greenery
+there was a computer which could be used, as well as wifi
+once again, the always smiling staff!:)
Some improvement suggestions (both regarding the shower area):
-there was nothing to dry the floors with after the shower(like a mop), which resulted in somewhat muddy/wet floors
- there should be a table or hooks by the sinks, where one could leave clothes and the towel while in the shower. As it is, they need to be dumped on the (wet) floor because the shower stalls are so small they would get soaked if they were hung on the hooks inside the stalls.
These are minor problems though, all in all we were extremely happy to stay in Garden Hostel!
As a dorm mate said to us:"I was expecting a cheap hostel, but felt like I'm staying in a 4 star hotel!"
For fellow visitors: some taxi drivers did not recognize the name Garden Hostel. Try Swiss hotel school instead.
We want to thank the lovely staff at Garden Hostel for making our trip to Bandung so amazing. If we ever get the chance to come back, we will definitely stay there again!:)
