A good place to stay if you have no sense of smell. My nonsmoking room smelled of mold, sewage, and cigarettes.

Wi-fi non functional.

And generally run down, old, and in poor condition. And dirty.

Writing this at 4 am because sleep is not possible.

Stayed there one night in October 2013, arriving close to midnight. The first room I was given on the 20th floor (small living room plus bedroom) had its bedroom carpet covered with red, blue, green and yellow interlinking rubber foam squares (!) you find in kindergardens. Those squares where visibly dirty, even in the dim room light - I can only imagine what was crawling in the carpet below. I have never seen something like this before; I thought the room was under renovation!
A work colleague who travelled with me could not open his room even after changing the room card and the duty manager needed several attempts to finally open it with his card.
After complaining I was given a smaller room on the 12th floor. The carpet was borderline to filthy, the bed was clean and comfortable, the furniture was old with several cigarette burn marks (it was a non-smoking room). The toilet had a strong urine smell and I would have moved to another hotel if it was not past midnight already. Next morning I found long, black hair on the the toilet floor and clipped toenails on the room carpet.

The breakfast on the 35th floor was not great but ok if you like Chinese breakfast. My colleague asked (in Chinese) for a second teabag for the teapot but was told he would only get one. Must be a rare commodity in this hotel.
When we checked out, we strongly complained and got a RMB 200 (25%) reduction for each room from a friendly duty manageress which is actually the only reason I give this place 2 points and not the lowest rating.
I honestly don't know how this run-down hotel maintains its 5 star rating and gets the other fancy plaques displayed in the lobby. At current the place should not charge more than RMB 400 per night.

Certainly my first and last stay in this place.

An average hotel wandering between Chinese and western style. The hotel is not located in city center but in new part of the city and there are many apartments and offices nearby. There are not many restaurants and shopping centers and supermarkets nearby (or maybe I missed them since I was not looking for. I had seen this in the reviews that there are Papa Jones and KFC nearby). Checking process took a long time, since they could not find my name in their booking list. ( I had done the booking by bestwestern.com). Lobby was beautiful with many furniture to sit in. There was a WIFI available at the lobby. When I went up to the room I was surprised of the difference between the beautiful ocean view and worn-out room furniture and stained carpet and poor and wracked bathroom. The bed was not comfortable and there were noises from adjacent room. Totally I did not like this hotel and the morning breakfast also made me decide to leave this hotel and going to the favorite Crowne Plaza. I believe there is a 180 degrees difference between the Crown in "BEST WESTERN Premier Qingdao Kilin Crown Hotel" and the Crowne in " Crowne Plaza" much more than one "e" at the end. Little by little I am being convinced to ignore best western hotels chain in all over the world. I believe they are just selling their brand to whom buy I in a good price regardless of the level of service and the class of the hotel.

Room Tip: Simply it is not a 5 star hotel. There are many better hotels in Qingdao with the same price level

This was a comfortable and welcoming hotel. Especially thoughtful was the provision of a multi-extension socket in the room with every mains plug option including the UK. WiFi worked perfectly, but there were some minor problems. As with many hotels, the hot water took an eternity to run hot, especially very early in the morning. The shower head came away from the riser, and the bath plug had to be taken out manually as the release fitting did not work properly. But these were minor issues. More disconcerting was being woken by a phone call on the room phone, jet lagged, at 11pm to be offered women; probably beyond the control of the hotel, but very undesirable nonetheless.

Room is good and toiletries is more than sufficient. Great view from the room.
Variety of breakfast available on the 35th floor but the restaurant environment can be improved.
5 star for the room but 2 star for the restaurant.
