We stayed at the Shangri-La during our trip to Shenyang. The facilities are clean and the room was large. Bedding and pillows were very comfortable. The hotel provided us with endless supply of bottled water each day.

What set this hotel apart from the rest is their outstanding selection of buffet breakfast. They had everything! The staff were extremely friendly and remembered our orders from the previous days. They would bring out what we had ordered without asking each morning which isn’t seen anywhere else. Bertha was very professional and warm. We enjoyed morning breakfast each day.

Overall, can’t fault this place and the buffet breakfast is a treat.

Highly recommend.

The worst check in experience from a hotel in my life. I booked through Trivago and arrived at the hotel for check in to be told that there was no reservation for me. I was then instructed to call my reservation agency which I did as the hotel was unable to make international calls. While I was calling my agent I could hear the check in staff suggesting the price was too cheap and they didn't want to give me a room for the booking price. After calling the agent and them confirming I had a booking they wanted to speak to check in staff member Kelly who had already been very abrupt to say the least. She was no longer available and so another check in member spoke to the agency but then the international call was cut off.
Despite having a reservation confirmation the hotel still refused to give me a room and then suggested I make a new reservation with them at a different price. Kelly also suggested I refund my existing booking...which of course I can not do as it is the same day as the booking so the booking had already started!
I sense the hotel did not want to help at all. I had to do all the international calls myself and at my own expense, even calling up the corporate booking agency that Trivago uses called hotel beds.com.
Meanwhile what did the hotel do to locate my booking....nothing!
I sense if you are a contractor for one of the German automotive firms or a Chinese guest then they are happy to look after you. As a foreign guest I was left to wait in the lobby for 2 hours before abandoning the hotel to carry out work commitments.
Now at 21:00 Chinese time I called the hotel to see what progress had been made in locating my booking and was told by the receptionist that they would contact reservations and call me back immediately. Half an hour has since passed and no call back. So I then called the hotel back directly and they said they have spoken to my travel agency and the agency do not have a booking. This is blatantly a lie as during that time I called the agency again and they confirmed they have the booking.

The facilities of the hotel are very good, the rooms are very nicely decorated and clean, and the location is very central. However I was not very happy with the service, most of the employees did not speak english, and the ones who did were not very good at it. When I was checking in, I was told that I was upgraded to a better room called, Horizon Club room and the next day I saw that I was being charged for this upgrade that I did not even ask for. I took me 15 minutes of talking to 3 different managers to get that off my bill.

We stayed at this Shangri-La Shenyang Hotel for three nights this month (January 2019.) This was not our first time. There are two Shangri-La hotels in this city and the other one charges a lower fare. Breakfast came with the roughly US$210 per night room including taxes and service charges. We got the Horizon Club rooms (located on the high floors) and were entitled to have our breakfast on the 30th (Horizon) Floor. There is plenty of food and you can order custom-made breakfast on top of the buffet. You'll never go hungry. The happy hours bar there has so much free liquor and wines you must exercise self-control if you don't want to get drunk. We rent private vehicles to and from customer sites and the airport. The western restaurant, La.Prime Kitchen (see my review) is within three minutes on foot across the parking lot in the Kerry Center opposite the hotel. You go there if you want to have a good western-style dinner for a change. The Chinese restaurant in the hotel has good food too though the service is a little slow. The western (buffet) restaurant in the hotel has so much food and of so many varieties you'll gain weight if you eat with abandon. Control yourself. For a business hotel with such amenities, the price is very reasonable. Shenyang is not Hong Kong. Get it and enjoy yourself while you can.
