Spent five nights at the Mandarin Oriental for my wife and I's anniversary. We booked a pool pavillion room for the five nights.
Immediately upon arrival, staff unloaded our luggage and we didn't have to touch them until we reached ourlovely room. Room was fantastic. Selling point is the pool right outside the door. To open the sliding glass doors and walk into the pool and see the ocean right in front of you was a real treat. Very romantic.
Dining was excellent. Never had a bad meal. Had a drink every night at Sunset Bar. The staff was very attentive. Nicky, in particular always made sure we were treated like royalty. The duo singing was talented and set a nice vibe.
The grounds of this resort are simply amazing. Doesn't feel overcommercialized , more like peace and tranquility in a tropical rainforest. Never seems crowded and every staff member smiled and welcomed us throughout our stay. Mihai, manager of guest relations, has an amazing talent for attentiveness and customer service. Always made sure we were satisfied and even sent us off with a goodbye gift upon our departure. Really made our stay special. It's the little things in life that separate the good from the great.
We did visit several other resorts in Sanya during our stay and left each resort feeling even more satisfied that we chose Mandarin Oriental. The staff and service at M. O just exceeded all other resorts. They truly make you feel as if they enjoy their jobs. Sign of a well run resort. If we are ever to return to Sanya there's no reason to even consider another resort for our stay. Almost shed a tear when it was all over. Perhaps I did, but I'd never admit it!
Just returned from a 4-day stay at the Mandarin Oriental. The property exceeded my expectations in many ways! It's located in Dadonghai, which is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Yalong Bay and the other overly developed areas. I was looking for a property that was 5-star, but not one of the mega resorts (I couldn't stomach the idea of eating breakfast with 500 of my fellow holiday-makers).
I stayed in a Pool Pavilion and would highly recommend! The room has a step-out pool. Although its shared by 7 other rooms, I rarely saw anyone else in the water. The room itself was spacious and well maintained. The bathroom was almost the same size as the room itself, featuring a huge shower and soaking tub (with a sea view). The grounds are lush, huge pools, and a fun water slide.
The service was top notch, especially Mihai, the Guest Services Manager. He picked me up personally from the airport and continued to look after me for the entire stay. From booking hard to get tables and arranging lunch next to the pool to noticing I could use some extra pool towels...no detail went unnoticed by Mihai and his team; they truly took the experience from good to great.
Other standouts include Nicky at the Sunset Bar and Carolina at Fresh (the beach-side fine dining option).
I can't wait to visit again!
The two bedroom villa with private pool was wonderful for our family of 4. Cici, Eileen and Mihai did a wonderful job taking care of any of our needs. (dinner reservations, golf, spa reservations, airport transportation, rain forest tour). Tea at the Cliff and eating at the Noodle bar were two of our favorite things. Our trip was WONDERFUL!!!
Mandarin Oriental really nails it !!
Enjoy every second in the room, just the right amount of everything, the mattresses are super comfy and the size of the room is huuuuuuuuuuge (I am surprised that their floors seem to be waxed, which I have never seen in a hotel anywhere).
What’s even more exciting is the facilities, heated swimming pools, bars and beaches, as well as a buffet restaurant with unlimited supply of lobsters and oysters. I have stayed in many hotels in Hainan, and honestly their facilities are indeed the second to none.
Finally, I want to thank all the staff for their warm services during my girlfriend and my stay. All the staff we met were very very friendly and kind.
If I return to Hainan, mandarin oriental is without question the No.1 go-to-destination for my stay.
PS: Special thanks to the room manager Tina. Had an urgent online meeting that needed a quiet environment when i was just about to check out and Tina tried everything to help and certainly had made a very good arrangement so that everything runs smoothly, can’t thank you enough !!
The Mandarin Oriental Sanya is a delightful piece of paradise - close enough to the city’s Phoenix airport and other infrastructure, yet secluded from the hustle and bustle of Dadonghai.
The grounds are very attractive, with impeccably manicured lawns and an array of swimming pools catering to different tastes. Snorkeling in Coral Bay and discovering colorful fish off the hotel‘s private beach was another pleasant surprise. So was the cocktail happy hour and the reasonably priced snacks in the breathtaking setting of the aptly named "Sunset Bar.
The only glitches were that the room we were initially offered had a mouldy smell and that after a ride in the hotel‘s private taxi the driver was unable and initially unwilling to find our final destination. However, both issues were resolved quickly by the hotel‘s super-responsive staff.
First and foremost, it was a select group of staff who made our stay outstanding: Nicky, Nicole and Carrie with their charming friendliness, helpful attitude and excellent command of English helped us out whenever we needed something. They responded instantly to all the messages we sent them to their WeChat accounts. With their welcoming spirit, they made us feel like we were their personal guests. Their service and attitude is outstanding and unparalleled. Thanks and kudos to those three exceptional hospitality professionals!
