Centrally located (about 3 blocks from the main plaza and a 10-minute walk to the Sun Temple), Hotel Ruinas makes it easy to explore Cusco on foot.

Very cute lobby/atrium area, which our room overlooked (can get a bit loud at times but an interesting view for sure). The rooms themselves are pretty basic, though our triple was quite roomy (2 connecting rooms). A lot of things are a bit dated, and I'm not a huge fan of hotels that still have the old school bed covers, but honestly, that's just me being nit picky. No major issue.

Reception clerks are very knowledgeable about best route to key sights, as well as good restaurants near by, so when in doubt, just ask. Their service in general is great - helping us make calls/arrangements in Spanish (life saver!) and giving useful tips about cost of taxis, etc. The only downside was the taxi they helped us arrange our last morning ended up trying to price gauge us, so I'd suggest asking for the hotel to help negotiate the rate beforehand (in their defense, the hotel did tell us the going rate, which was how we realized we were being ripped off in the first place!).

Overall, very pleasant experience.

Had a great one night in Cusco at Hotel Ruinas. It is a few minutes walk from the main plaza de armas, so not loud but close to everything. We arrived and the staff greeted us with some fresh coco tea and checkin/checkout was a breeze. A great, large breakfast buffet was waiting for us the next morning. No complaints, a lovely stay!

A very good 3 star hotel with 4 star employees. Had lots of short stays here between trips and had lovely service storing bags and we were even collected from the airport.

Great location a short walk from Plaza de Armas, opposite an Internet cafe and laundry for the essential emails and washing. Breakfast was a fine selection of almost everything you could want.

If you're a couple ask for the room with one big double bed. When I say big I mean big! Other rooms have slightly smaller double beds. See the pics...

We stayed here twice during our trip to Peru. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and nice--our room had a king sized bed. Hotel was very nice and tastefully decorated, and the breakfast was standard fare. Location is excellent with just a short walk to the main square. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel!

We stayed in Hotel Ruinas before and after walking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and we were extremely pleased with our stay. The location is great, just a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas. All of the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful and we enjoyed getting to know them on a first name basis. They were particularly helpful in getting an important item that we had forgotten back to us when we left for the Inca Trail. We had a room on the third floor at the back of the hotel and had a wonderful view of the city. There is no elevator so climbing to our room was good conditioning for our walk! Our room was small but very clean and simply furnished (including cable TV, refrigerator, safe and hair dryer). The beds were comfortable and there was always hot water in the shower. There is a restaurant in the hotel and the breakfast buffet was excellent. There is WiFi in the rooms and a computer in the lobby to access the internet. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Cusco. We highly recommend Hotel Ruinas as a modest, moderately priced hotel with a great staff in a central location.
