We were given a lovely room overlooking the square but noticed that a stage was being assembled and asked our guide about this. She said that if there was a concert it would finish early. We received better information from the reception at the hotel and, in fact, the concert and the dancing did not start until 9pm and it was incredibly noisy. The whole hotel filled with this noise. We had the insight to move to another (simpler) room. I was so tired that I slept through all the noise anyway. Of course this is not something that happens every day but it is worth being aware of. Other than this the hotel is charming and the staff were helpful. The restaurant at the hotel is very good and the breakfast was absolutely fine. This was a great place to stay for our only night in Arequipa. I guess we were unlucky that there was a concert in the square on just that night. I should add that we sat outside on the roof terrace in the evening - once the concert had finally finished and that was lovely.
Amazing hotel in Arequipa, the room and bathroom were pretty small especially with two twin beds. The service was great and the breakfast was limited but delicious.
The hotel is in a good location, a couple of blocks from great bars and restaurants.
We stayed here for three nights and really wanted to love it, but there were a few factors that made our stay a bit less-than-pleasant.
1.) The rooms are quite dark and a bit stuffy, and we struggled to open the window because the curtain rail blocked it from opening properly.
2.) REALLY noisy. All the rooms face an inner 'courtyard' where the reception is located, so you hear every conversation, ringing phone and doorbell - and this starts very early in the morning and goes until very late at night.
3.) The hotel alarm went off for about 2 mins for no reason at 12.30am on our first night. While I understand that this probably wasn't the fault of anyone, what was annoying was that the next morning we got woken up by a phone call at 6.45am to 'remind' us that breakfast was served until 9am.
4.) The morning after that the cleaner let herself into our room at 7.15am, again waking us up.
1.) Excellent location in a lovely historical area about 5mins walk to Plaza de Armas.
2.) Arthur Restaurant (the hotel's restaurant) is FANTASTIC
3.) Staff were friendly and helpful
4.) Great showers with good pressure and lots of hot water, and good wifi
Stayed at this hotel for one night in late July, and
1) we seemed to be the only guests, didn't see another soul. (But we could hear them...) We were also completely alone in the breakfast room - wich actually felt a bit odd. Breakfast was just OK though, nothing to complain on.
2) we had one of the hardest times EVER to sleep in a hotel, due to the noices from some sort of a festival located on the square outside the hotel - and, of course!. the hotel itself is not to be blamed, but it surely affected our stay in a very bad way. (There were loads of live bands playing, that we're supposed to finish by 11 p m we were told, but at 2:30 in the morning the music was still on, very loud, making it completely impossible to sleep!) We could not find any staff at the hotel who knew anything about this or less could do something about it...)
3) not only noices from the street were heard (and we did NOT have a room directed towards it!) but also from the atrium garden, wich the hotel is built around. The setting is actually very nice, but it allows sounds and noices to reach into every corner... Our bathroom was located next to the adjoining room's bathroom, and there was a small kind of "internal window" (don't know how to better describe it) that was completely open between the two bathrooms! You could not see anything, but you heard exactly everything thas was said or done in the room... We also had problems with the flushing of the toilet.
The room itself - including wallpapers, furnitures and curtains - felt a bit worn.
