We stayed at Kalaw Villa 33. This villa was one of the reasons why we preferred Pangulasian. Its extensive and generous space were respite to city lockdowns which we have experienced for almost 2 years. The villa and secluded cove of Kalaw were well-maintained and kept. Despite absence of turndown services due to pandemic, we felt safe, clean and housekeeping was kind enough to sweep our balcony when we requested for it while we remained indoors. Pool was cleaned EVERYDAY and we actually saw staff doing this. Overall, our accommodations were topnotch. Food and drinks were superb with Chef accommodating our out-of-menu requests. Their staff and crew know how to define luxury and excellent customer service as we felt VVVIP treatment all the way without losing the familial, warm experience. We would have received the same treatment in Amanpulo but with Pangalusian, the treatment was really warm and friendly, let alone SINCERE. From Miss Jen, Chef Carlos, Ryan (tours), JohnJohn (set up), Frank (Dining), Reception (Anj, Athena and Love), Billy (transpo) and all the rest of the Pangulasian group, it almost felt like they were performing services to be REMEMBERED. The sincerity and humility of people were not to be discounted. Everyone made us feel so at home and welcome. Activities were robust enough but not tiring. They were well paced and space apart to allow rest and recovery in between. Every tour was also reminiscent of care. To us, this was the perfect time to travel and take advantage of travel bubble. We enjoyed the lagoons and private beaches almost just to ourselves. Some other services (full spa menu), turndown services in-room etc were not allowed but those are only because of pandemic. From check-in to check-out, the whole process was well thought of with guest convenience in focus. Everything was designed to navigate around sensitivities to the pandemic and we felt that guest safety and security were imprinted on every staff's core. We did not feel unsafe even for a second and the quality of services did not waiver. That was quite a feat to achieve but El Nido Pangulasian did it, amazingly so. My husband and I are not fond of beach destinations. Pangulasian changed us. We will definitely be back because 4D/3N were enough to make us feel, we left a FAMILY at Pangulasian.

Stayed at pangulasian 5 nights and 6 days. We had the island all to ourselves the first 2 days with no other guests. The remaining 4 days, the travel bubble arrived.

The room and the rest of the resort was squeaky clean. Its amazing how they kept sand out of the room and the rest of the facilities when the sand is just a couple steps away. I walked barefoot in the room and felt no dust or sand on my feet. I held the handrails going up the restaurant and felt no dust or sand on my palms. Also, room AC units ( 2 in a room) were very cold, more than capable of cooling the whole room.

The scenery is amazing. So picturesque. And the thick forest sits just a few meters behind the villas. Some of the trees look like a hundred years old. And wildlife is all around. Saw monkeys, crows, tabon scrubfoul, and monitor lizards walking around, not afraid of people. It shows that they're protected here as they are not frightened by the sight of people.

I went snorkeling the first day and the wildlife underwater is just as amazing. I saw a 6 foot blacktip reef shark, an eagle ray, every kind of corral and fish. The next days I saw 4 blacktips and 2 tutrles. The corrals are very alive and the fish are bigger than what I've seen in all other places I've snorkeled at in the philippines. You could tell that they take protecting the reef and its inhabitants seriously here. Proper mooring points so boats don't have to drop anchor, and no fishing in front of the resort which means all the fish are allowed to grow to full size. And they aren't spooked by people. And no garbage and plastic anywhere, they were a rare sight and I saw less than a handful my entire stay.

I've never seen such sustainable tourism in all other resorts I've visited in the philippines. They don't allow you to touch anything. Not even the guides touch anything. And the lights that lit the path to the rooms are LED, thought they were ordinary bulbs but when I touched them they were cool to the touch. Also, it is one of the only places where you can have a real beach wedding. A catholic wedding on sand.

As for the staff, they truly made my stay memorable. Hats off to the staff for always going the extra mile. They always greeted us and were keen on providing anything they could. Special mention to my favorites. Jude, who was always there to serve us food and wait on us. He's the reason I say the staff go the extra mile. We had dinner on the beach one windy night and the sand lanterns couldn't be lit because of the wind. I told him it was fine but he didn't give up and found a way to keep them lit by burying them halfway in the sand. Andy, who knew anything and everything about the islands, who kept me company in all my activities whether it be snorkeling over an hour, or island hopping or trekking to the viewpoint. Sid, who took care of all, and I mean all of the things we needed for our wedding. And all the staff at the front desk. They made sure to watch our 7 month old baby every time they could.

The activities were great. Island hopping is a must. And a lot better now since there were no dozen tourists and kayakers, or hawkers and peddlers. We actually got to explore all the sights with zero people. Just us and Andy.

I also enjoyed using the resorts laser sailboat. It was in superb condition.

My only comment about my entire stay are two things. One, they could have been more creative with the food. There were nights when the food was really good. But they kept on repeating some items in the menu. They could have cooked some items differently. The other is a cockroach in the cabinet. I understand that the resort just a few meters from a wild forest. But my wife was super freaked out by it. I didn't mind too much. But the resort immediately acted on it. And I mean immediately. Within minutes from hearing about it, they sent the island pest control to act on it. And dont worry this wasn't a cockrach you see in the city. It was a jungle cockroach which had different color from a typical one. Another thing I didn't mind was all the lizard poop every morning around the room. I mean, it is a jungle just outside and there are tiny lizards inside the room although you never see them.

Overall, worth every peso. And definitely one of the best resorts I've stayed in. My compliments to Ms. Jen and all her staff on a job well done! Definitely looking forward to visiting again, not just the place, but all the people in it.

I arranged a weekend getaway for my parents’ 28th wedding anniversary. In these uncertain times, safety has to be the utmost priority. El Nido Resorts initiated a travel bubble in order to protect everyone’s safety.

I do not know where to begin but Pangulasian Resort really did an exemplary job, exceeding my parents’ expectations.

The staff never failed to make their whole stay safe and at the same time make them feel that they are in paradise. They are always one step ahead about the things you’re about to inquire. They even arranged for my parents to have their very own viewing of the online Mass.

The room set up was beautifully made and with the personal touch of my parents’ photos! My 14 year old sister who hasn’t been out of the house for a year joined on this trip and was very ecstatic the entire time.

Big thank you to everyone at Pangulasian Resort for the amazing food, excellent service and topped with a majestic view.

Special thanks to Ms. Regina from reservations, Cj from Front Office, Dive Instructor Richard and Guest Activities Associate Ryan!

Questions & answers about the rooms

Answer from macasaetchris

Hi there! I agree that the best room to get in Pagulasian is the beach villa. But if you want more private plus shared 85 m pool right at your room's door step then get the Kala villa. There are 6 El Nido Resorts - Miniloc, Apulit, Lagen, Pangulasian, El Nido cove and Casa Kalaw in Lio. The nearest to the airport of El Nido is Casa Kalaw (just 10-15 minutes away from the airport). But the lagoons (small and big) and other island are a bit far from there. Pangulasian - offers privacy and luxe accomodation. Book via Airswift. They have flights every day (as early as 6am) from Manila to El Nido and Cebu to El Nido (if you plan to drop by Cebu).
