Do not leave any valuables in the "safe box" if don't want money or any other thing to disappear like the genie and the magic lamp. I was assured that the only person who can open the safety box is the manager....hmmmmm.
I've requested a single room city view but was given a ground floor with no view at all. Check in and check out process is fast. The room is very small and I cannot compose my self and most of my things are kept in my luggage. Breakfast is very good and the staff also are accommodating and friendly. The sea view at the rooftop- watching sunrise is one of the best scenarios in this hotel. The room/hotel has poor wifi connection and even my local turkcell mobile - no signal at all.
I encourage anyone if you want to book for a budget hotel near SultanAhmet with comfy bed, very good breakfast and friendly employees - check at Cem Sultan.
Very good location, fast internet, clean room, fast registration, friendly reception personnel, breakfast with Istanbul view. Although we reached very late at 1 a.m, hotel staff accommodated us within 5 minutes.
I spent three night in the Cem Sultan Hotel. I turned a 5 hour stop over in Istanbul into a quick tourist stop during a business trip in March 2016.
I booked through hotels.com and had no problems booking in when I arrived at the hotel at 1:00 in the morning. I got exactly what I booked for ant at what price I was quoted on hotels.com.
The room was clean and comfortable, well in relation to what I paid.
Free wifi was available in the hotel and signal strength was good in my room.
Staff spoke sufficient English and was very friendly.
The breakfast was traditional and adequate.
This hotel's best feature is it's location. You are literally a few hundred meters from the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque!
The Tram station is a comfortable walking distance from the hotel and moving around the city from here is easy and safe.
Going to the hotel from the airport I used a taxi. This cost about 50 Lira. Once I spent some time around Istanbul, I made my way back to the Airport after my stay using the Tram and Train. This cost me about 8 Lira.
Food around the hotel is at tourist prices. But it is worth taking the tram & ferry to Uskudar (on the Asia side of Istanbul). The trip spoils you with stunning views of the city from the water. Uskudar is much less touristy and thus prices are very reasonable and it is in a way more relaxing moving around there.
I will be staying at the Cem Sultan again if I spend time in Istanbul again.
We loved our stay here. On the day of our arrival we reached at 9am and even though our check-in was at 2pm, we could store our luggage and we were invited to have breakfast. after that warm welcome we went for sightseeing and when we came back to get our room, we entered a cosy room, that wasn't the biggest but it was clean and tidy and the attached bathroom was clean as well. we really enjoyed our stay, loved the turkish breakfast buffet and the view over the bosporus from the breakfast room and the small terrace. the staff was always helpful and it was fun to talk to them. we will definitely come back when we visit istanbul again!
