Great spot, good service and this place makes no pretensions to be anything but budget accommodation. Lovely grounds, wildlife wanders around including penguins at night. Also they make a lot of noise going back to the water at dawn. Suggest if you want a penguin experience you book a proper tour. We had a two bedroom loft style accommodation , very comfy and everything you might need is provided. Probably could do with a remodel but then you’d have to pay a lot more.
Note internet is available but..
We stayed here for one night in a king room. View was great and room was spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately I couldn't sleep that night because too much light was coming thru the kitchen window into the lounge and bedroom which is more like a studio room which had a strong front door light which I believe needs attention for upcoming guests. I did suggest to management that perhaps need to put a blind in the kitchen window or set the lights to turn off. This was the only issue I had with this property and unfortunately had no sleep. The penguin show/sighting at 7.10pm was great, but people need to realise that noise will only scare them away, a number of people in our group were just too noisy and disrespectful to others that want to see the penguins. The restaurant here was good, somewhat expensive but pretty good and mostly Korean food. If there were curtains or blinds covering the kitchen window which stops light coming into the room at night I would stay again. I would of rated this property higher if it wasn't for the issue of too much light at night.
We stayed for one night. Room was clean, view amazing, food at the restaurant was really good and the penguin show is excellent. Couldn’t fault the place, friendly staff will be back when we next tour Tassie
Reading previous reviews, I assume some rooms have been renovated and others not. Stayed 2 Nights in a Beachfront Room. It was perfect.
The view was just magical looking right out over the water and the Bay. It was very clean and had all that we needed for a short stay, Microwave, Toaster, Kettle, Dishwashed, Wine Fridge. There is also a restaurant onsite who also do room service. Our meals were delivered to our room within 30 minutes and were very nice. The menu has a reasonable selection however Bicheno also has several eateries however be aware that things close early. No late dining available anywhere.
There is a lovely pool area at Diamond Beach, a nice bar overlooking the water and the bonus is the Penguin Viewing which is included in your rate. These gorgeous little penguins can be viewed each night on the Viewing platform onsite so no need to pay extra to an outside company for viewing or a tour.
We really enjoyed our stay and planning to return.
A bonus they do also allow Pets although I would suggest confirming this prior to booking.
A lovely place to stay in Bicheno.
Where to start -firstly we were given the keys to a Beach Villa when we had booked a two bedroom apartment -this was changed reluctantly .Apartment was two bed rooms for 4 people but lounge space only for 3 to sit and one bedroom had an fan that did not work -other bedroom no fan and window that had not been opened for a long time
No light above dining table so we ate and played cards in semi darkness
Taps in bathroom had been installed the wrong way around and we only had towels for 2 people .
The Outside Gazebo had a dead bird inside and BBQ inside had not been cleaned and this was typical of the whole place .
The Private Penguin tour was very average -we were taken to a viewing platform and did see Penguins but very little information was provided and we left after seeing three Penguins.
Also have installed a brooding box with young Penguins outside their reception area -Is this a good idea or even legal ???
Bed and pillows were very comfortable and hot water was very hot
