Having travelled the world and stayed in some first class hotels, we have to say that our experience here was WOW. Food, service, quality of room and furnishings cannot be faulted. The only downside was that there was no member of staff available if a drink or snack was required by the pool area. The fusion restaurant was unbelievable with food of a michelin star quality and the service was second to none. Reception staff and concierge were always available and nohing was seemed to be an effort. Will definitely return!!

Listen, we can talk about the rooms, the beds, the pool, how big, how clean etc. The hotel is flawless and faultless. I have nothing else to write. Most 5 star hotels will have the same amenities. What's different about this hotel aside from the 5 star is how you are made to feel when you are welcomed, looked after and lovingly sent on your way back home when the time comes.

All my life whenever I have travelled for business or pleasure, on the last day, towards the journey home, there's a certain part of me that looks forward to sleeping in my own bed.

Because home is home, and no matter what kind of luxury bestows you... there's nothing quite as comfortable as your own bed.

I can happily say that after spending 5 days relaxing and enjoying the Portugese sun in the Lake Spa Resort, not only was I not looking forward to going home, but I wasn't even looking forward to my own bed.

The lake and spa resort have sharpened their customer service blade with precision, warmth and a genuine wish to please their guests and go above their expectations. I lost count the number of times I looked at my wife and told her or said to myself, wow, I didn't expect that.

So congrats team, you nailed it. Also, if you are vegan or vegetarian, these guys will cater... really well. We had vegan pancakes, vegan pastries, vegan sausages, vegan scramble prepared for us every. single. day. The poolside menu had lots of options. There was a new menu changed every evening for dinner just for vegan food.

On our last day we had a surprise left in our room which blew my mind. (I won't spoil it for the rest of you)

In summary... stay here if you want a proper relaxing vacation and don't want to have a care in the world and enjoy a mini paradise. Suitable for families, couples and even solo.

This hotel certainly does have the wow factor!

it is beautiful both inside and out with lovely rooms and grounds. Spotlessly clean and all the staff are fantastic.

We stayed for a week on a B&B basis staying in a garden view room on the second floor, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice both hot or cold.

Our room was huge, the toilet is sepatate to the main bathroom which has a walk in shower and bath. A large comfortable bed with the best pillows I think I've ever experienced! There was plenty of cupboard and storage space and with the room being so big it never felt cramped or cluttered.

There was a plate of fruit waiting for us on arrival, which we thought was a lovely touch, and bottled water was provided everyday. There is a mini bar/fridge with beers/spirits/chocolates etc however we didn't't use them as we felt they were expensive. A Nesspresso coffee machine and kettle are provided with plenty of coffee pods and teas bags which are replenished daily, as we prefer milk to the little cream/milk pods we bought a bottle of milk from a supermarket and kept it in the fridge. There was a turndown service each night with chocolates left on our bed.

The hotel has 5 pools, one being a manmade beach with zero entry. Unfortunately with it being February they were far too cold for more than a paddle although it was warm enough to sunbathe. Towels are provided daily near to the pool bar.

We used the spa facility on a number of occasions which is lovely and relaxing and included as part of your stay, there is an indoor pool with many jets to ease away any aches and pains, as well as a dead sea salt bath, jacuzzi, steam room sauna. Again towels are provided as well as day beds to relax on and herbal teas and water available free of charge. Treatments are available at an extra cost however we didn't try any of them.

We used both of the bars within the hotel which are lovely with fantastic service however are on the expensive side for example €8 for a glass of wine, although in fairness this is in keeping with many of the bars and restaurants around the marina and it must be remembered that it is a 5 star hotel.

The hotel is in a great location a 5 minute walk gets you to the expansive sandy beach where you can walk for miles and around 10 minutes to the marina area.

All in all a fabulous hotel that we would highly recommend and look forward to visiting again the future.

Came back to Vilamoura on our 30th wedding anniversary - we came here on our honeymoon and stayed in The Old Village then.
Got the airport transfer from Faro which took 2mins.
A warm greeting by the hotel staff and an efficient check in process with welcome drink and cake! We were also given a complimentary bottle of fizz with chocolate dipped strawberries - thank you Lake Resort. All the staff here very nice and helpful.
Our room was very nice - sea view with balcony (room 445) - we got an upgrade from garden view!
The breakfast was very good - has everything from cereal, English fry up, omelettes to continental plus fruits and lots of cakes - also help yourself to a cheeky Buck’s Fizz!!
The room got cleaned every day. Confusing which water was complimentary - the large glass bottle or the plastic bottles?
The pool, man made beach and lake all very nice. The only disappointment was that the outdoor pool was not heated - why? - freezing at 16 degrees and not a lot went in for a swim.
You can walk round the lake and find you way to the road and walk across to the main beach - takes 10 minutes.
We had access to the spa but spent most of our time walking to Marina for lunch and dinner.
The walk to the marina is also 5 minutes. The marina is stunning. It got very chilly at night so need a jacket or coat for the evening walk there.
Highlight was taking a boat trip to Benagil Caves. We used Algarvexcite on the marina.
Overall we came for a 4 day break to recharge the batteries and we had a lovely time here and Vilamoura Marina.

I can’t advise on a particular room but thoroughly recommend the resort as being suitable for a 5 year old. I suggest you contact joana silva by emailing the resort. This lady was very helpful while we were there.

Has anyone got any photos of garden room with a 3rd bed set up, just wondered how much room it took up.
Answer from Rinders

My two children and I stayed in a standard garden view room with an extra bed (so a double and a small single). It was okay for a week, but it was rather cramped and I don't think would be suitable for 3 adults. We loved The Lake Resort though, and will definitely go back, but have a larger room next time.

Go with the flow an the general consensus is you'll be fine. Let's face it, your asleep Ian room, it not as if you're living in the room stuck on an ocean liner.......your day apart from sleeping is spent in and around the 2 pools, and sand based bay pool along with visits outside the resort to the sea.....sleep is sleeping, daytime is for relaxed sangria (adults) and fun for the kids..
