We visited this resort in the first week of November. We wanted a short break from our daily schedule during the pandemic. So we selected this resort, as it was close to Gurugram.
The hotel amenities are ok, the games and other facilities are on a chargeable basis and too expensive. We believe that those (barring spa) should have been covered in the already exorbitant tarriff. The food is way too expensive. Without any other decent restaurants nearby, you are forced to eat in the hotel (The Living Room). The quantity and quality of food was just ok.
If you really want to stay here, then this resort is ok for one night stay. Please do not stay for more than one night. There is not much to do except some short activities like petting zoo, game zone and cycling which can be done within a 2-3hrs. Btw, if you are coming for the petting zoo, then be aware that it is free. So you don't even need to stay there. You can roam around the property for a while, but after some time that also becomes a bit boring.
Please bring enough snacks and games with you to keep yourself busy after you are done with the short activities.
The experience can be better if you are coming in a group. But still then too, it does not need more than 1 night stay.
I'll suggest that you come here for light snacks, visit the petting zoo, take a walk around the property, click some good pics and go back the same day.
Btw, the hotel is taking good precautions for covid in the sense that the entire staff is wearing masks.
Amazing resort beautifully located an hour drive from Delhi. For nature lovers this resort is a dream come true. Surrounded by lush green lawns, flowers, home grown vegetables, birds, peacocks - you name it and they have it all. The resort also has a zoo with several domestic animals starting from rabbits, ginny pigs etc which you can go and feed with a help of the local keeper. There are several activities which keeps you engaged such as: Cycling, go-karting, fishing, kids area- basketball ball, tennis court, swings. We travelled with our five year old who thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The food at the restaurant and room dining was also good with lots of variety on offer.
The staff and service was a standout, as they were extremely helpful, prompt and built a personal connect. Special thanks to Oindrila who ensured a seamless check in prior our arrival and also upgraded us to the one room villa. They also ensured to give us a surprise by decorating the room for my wife who was celebrating her birthday.
Overall a fantastic experience. We have already planned our next trip to the resort which will be soon. Thanks to Westin Sohna for a memorable stay.
Westin Sohna is a good property which is close to Delhi but not so close as well. It is tucked away in a peaceful corner of Sohna. Good part is that you are away from city's hustle but the bad part is you have nowhere to go incase if you want to step out.
The checkin process was smooth. Kudos to the front desk who helped us complete formalities at the restaurant post our lunch.
They have a zoo, playing area, indoor games, go-kart, paint ball and also a lake. You can rent cycle and explore the property.
Also, they take good precautions during current times. All staff were wearing a mask and the ones at the restaurant were wearing face shields as well. They even told guests to wear masks without any hesitation at the buffet counter which is a good sign as breakfast buffets are generally crowded.
The property is aged and you'll figure that out once you step in. Its a huge and maintained property but once you step in the room, the property age starts to show. If you are taking the villa, do ensure that couples take up rooms because the bathrooms and washrooms practically have no lock and/or doors.
If you have a dietary requirement like our group who were Jain then there may be some hiccups at the restaurant. Food service seemed slow and during our 4 a la carte meals at the restaurant - the food was mostly average. Considering the price which is at par with any 5 star, we were a bit disappointed with the food.
A shoutout to waiter Atul at the restaurant. He was the saving grace for an otherwise average experience at the restaurant.
Housekeeping was average but they did not bother pick up plates from outside of the room (which was kept by one of their staff members) which looks bad considering Westin is part of the Mariott group and all my experience at their properties have been different than current one.
Overall a decent property for a short getaway from Delhi. Few hiccups here and there - maybe due to staff shortage in current times or maybe they do not care.
The overall cleanliness and safety measures taken at Westin Sohna is top-notch. The staff is courteous and cooperative. I even saw someone tell a guest at the dining area to wear a mask, without the fear of offending that person. In times like this one, we need such people with clear conscience and the voice to say the right thing. As per the stay is concerned, room was superb, food was good too. The complete arrangement was perfect
pollution level was very high, as bad as new delhi, but property declared it as zero pollution. staff not well trained for social distancing. room service took more time than acceptable. no breakfast in room offered in same package. rooms are nice and quiet. waseem @ hospitaility was quite helpful.
